Miller I believe was swallowed by the same South African company who just swallowed Anheuser Busch. Miller Light is still brewed but you may not like it now.

Miller Highlife was in the 50's>80's one of the best beers in the world. No longer.

American kids growing up don't know or apparently care what they drink, just as long as it's a quick and long high.

Take a look in Villa next time in HH. The Pattaya branch has some American beers from time to time. Drink at your own risk. :( Pete

All mass produced American beers should be poured back into the horse! The only American beers that are worth drinking are the micro brews and the smaller brewers like Sam Adams and Rolling Rock.

Once you've had a good beer like I did in my first trip to Germany in the 80's you'll never drink another mass produced American beer unless there is nothing else to drink (including water)!

I agree with BaaBaa, the only good Budweiser is Budvar from the Czech Republic. Pilsner Urquell from the same country is even better imo...

I am currently in Boston where sam adams is made. Sam is everywhere but very thick and strong after taste usually wheaty. Thick and wheaty like most european beers. I agree that budvar is a great beer I always drink it when I am in the czech but Budweiser is just a little better. Budweiser is smooth and has a one of a kind beachwood aged flavor. Easy to drink six or more and not want to puke like most european beers.

Golden tee is a fun bar arcade game. Every sports bar in America as at least one and it always has someone playing on it. You can swipe you credit card, if you get a hole-in-one than they credit money on your account so usually you can play have the games for free. Several type of games to play, closest-to-the-pin, skins, match, stroke, fourball, tournament.

Rolling Rock might be as skunky as Heineken bought in America.

Anyone know where you can order a budweiser keg in hh?

Too many lager lovers posting on here! You can get great real beer in most continents - bar LOS so far. The UK, our european cousins, especially Belgium, the States and Oz all brew great real ale, but by the nature of the beast, it doesn't travel well.

But why not bottled versions of the beer, if enough demand? I can go to any supermarket in the UK and great bottled buy beer from most of the above contninents, so why not Tescos in downtown Hua Hin?

I have a nephew who manages a Belgian Beer Cafe in Oz, with a good choice on draught and every bottled version you can think of, so why not LOS?

Good point Caller. Why no proper brews available in LOS? With the exception of Guinness it really is just lagers all the way.
But to answer Dude - re keg Bud - never seen it in LOS. That's not to say it isn't available in Bangkok, but the bottled Bud is universally accepted anyway, so there may not be the demand for keg.
Bottled Budva used to be found in the little bar in the middle of Chatuchak Market. I didn't 'check' the place out last year but it's probably still available in LOS.
BTW us Brits can, and do, adapt pretty well to whatever tipple is available in the country we happen to be at the time. We can tolerate - and get a taste for - San Miguel, Miller Lite, Erdinger, even Leo when needs must. But I have certainly spent well over the odds at times topping up on Guinness while in Bangkok for example, before the days when it was more widely available in LOS. And have fetched precious 7Eleven tinnies of it back from Malaysia. So isn't it time some brave (and loaded) entrepreneur set up a micro brewery in LOS? HH would seem like a good place to start. And while they are at it what about importing wine kits?

Why can't we get Beer Lao in Hua Hin? It is widely available in Bangkok and imo is the best beer in SE Asia, especially their dark beer....

They have a nifty web site now too!

http://www.beerlao.la/eng/main.php

As you can see, distribution in Thailand is limited and really always has been. I think great pressure from Thai brewers as they know Beer Lao is a better product. Pete

For starters the bar should not be charging more than bht50 for a small Thai beer ie the same as the bars in Pattaya.
Lets us see what bars fall into this category and then select?
Can someone tell me the name of this bar, I can't find it for the life of me. Cheapest so far in Walking Street is 59 Baht for arf-a-draft, with Singhas/San Migs around 70-80 Baht. Same in beer bars going towards Royal Garden Plaza, ie: well out of WS.

Upmarket'ish bar (similar to China Whites) in WS charged 150 Baht for Bacardi Breezer the other night (not a LD) and 95 for San Mig was after 2am though, whether they go up then as they have to pay the old bill off I don't know.

It's not apples for apples anyway, totally different places, and for what Pattaya specialises in, you can't beat it. Plus despite this alleged closing time crackdown going on here, certain go-go's are open til 4am, certain beer bars still going at 8am (my bedtime). So the times give it a big score over HH.

Wanna be clear I couldn't give a rats about the prices, just thought I'd post what I've seen as it's been discussed a bit on here. I shall continue this selfless research over the next few days.

Marine Disco tonight Pattaya Pete ? :D
