Guess, now that you have hopefully calmed down what exactly prompted your off the wall political rant earlier in this thread? Just for fun - I'm still bemused!

Sorry it was not meant to be a rant, but now having readit again I understand what you mean.

The insinuation that the Thai government educates the masses to support them, smacks of Communism. Statements like these were published way back in History mainly in Europe and always by communist reactionaries. Communism has proved especially in this region to be a harsh and brutal failure.

There may be some truth in it, but I doubt that it is widespread and it is certainly not a policy here to teach politics to children.

In recent years there has been vast educational improvements. All children have the oportunity to be educated and most of them do. This was not true twenty years ago. You have to remember that Thailand is advancing rapidly both socially and financially. In a rapid growth environment changes are needed quickly. Sometime mistakes are made.

As for the west do you not think that in Europe the masses educated to keep them subdued. In Britain they even have special scools that will only educate middle and upper class (often complete morons) to place them in positions of power.

Of course any system can be improved.

In brief I do not believe that the above statement is the crux of the matter at all.

Now my question. Why did you reply to me in a response to a completely diferent postiong. I only stumbled on it by pure chance.

Hi Guess,

The answer to your question: because backtracking through the thread before submitting my post I was reappraised of your earlier rhetoric and so tagged my question onto the end of my post to Kwai Yai. I had a feeling you would not miss it and I was right! :thumb:

Pete can correct me if I am wrong but I didn't interpret the content of his post as suggesting that communism was a factor in keeping the masses dumb in Thailand and it was also far from my mind when I submitted my earlier post - that's why your post seemed so incongruous and hence my request for clarification of what prompted it.

As for politics & education of the masses in Thailand..... care to start a new thread...!?

Nor did I, only the sugestion that the masses could be controlled by a central body. The statement reminded me of idealist claptrap (albeit probably composed with the best of intentions), that I have read by semi-intelligent political activists such as Marx and Engels.

Not a good idea. Politics here in Thailand has until the middle of last century been dominated by royalty. To discuss this would be a breach of protocol and quite likely without the terms and conditions of membership of the forum.

Hope this clears thing up. This discussion does not belong in this forum. I sugest you check out a topic called church in the events forum. Now there is something to discuss with out risk of offending our hosts.

The good old church. Now there's an institution that is no stranger to politics & education of the masses.

KwaiYai,
You're always going to be in a precarious position if you go for a bar girl. I'm not saying they're all bad, because they're simply not. The chances of being "turned over", however, are far more likely with this type of companion than others.
Why? Because it's their business.
Hua Hin has it's fair share of "professionals", but they pale into insignificance in comparison to their fair sisters in Pattaya.
Much better you meet a "nice girl" through you're friend's restaurant and take things slowly.
If you were back in farang land and jumped into bed with a girl you'd met for the first time the night before in a local bar and in the morning she professed her love for you - and could you lend her 100 pounds - what would you think then?
I don't see much difference in Thailand. If you're gullible, you're gullible.

Presisely. If you want to take out a BG, up to you. It is just the same as renting a car. Do not get in any way emoltioanlly involved. A BG is a BG and will never be anything else.

In Thailand you can take a girl out of a bar for as long as you can afford it but you will never in a million years take the bar out of the girl.
Spot on Guess. And most regular visitors who practice P4P are well aware of this rather obvious concept. There's so many great looking, fun girls here why stick to one? No matter how nice she is. That's kinda like a kid in a sweetie shop sticking to gob stoppers. Well that's how I see it. You run the risk of getting a rep, especially in a place as small as Hua Hin, but if you make it clear from the off you're a big bad butterfly, there shouldn't be any hassle.

I'm mates with a lot of the girls. Buy them a few drinks and have a laugh when I'm in the bar, but don't always complicate it by taking them out. They take the piss that I'm a butterfly and we laugh about it. Everyone knows the score and no harm done.

Agree with the posts that there are exceptions to the rule, but how's an inexperienced (or experienced for that matter) punter meant to sort the wheat from the chaff. Serious possibility you'll get your fingers burnt a few times before you meet, what you think, is the right lady.

Kwai Yai....you've learnt the hard way mate but good luck to you. As Lomuamart says, try and meet non working girl. There's plenty out there who are interested in having a farang boyfriend.

Alternatively, play the field....it's a lotta fun. :rasta:

Walking ATM, as they call you. Are you sure you want to keep this relationship going? It sounds like she is trying to milk you for as much as she can.
I've ran into a couple of these, I want, I need or We need LADIES when I vistied Bangkok and going out with my brother-in-law. It is so pathetic. Then again it is a way of survival and many farangs fall prey to this sham and send money from time to time until they realise, that they are being scammed by a pretty face.

Your gitrlfriend is asking for quite a bit of money there $200,000 baht, the majority of Thai's will never make that much for the whole year, yet she wants to make it in one day. :guns:

Use your discretion, test her. Send her a little and see what happens. :cuss:
