Re: Terrace 90 restaurant
After reading this thread, I went there a few days ago with the gf, though I didn't know what to expect because I know virtually zilch about Mexican cuisine.
We wanted to sit on the upstairs terrace but there was a private function - fair enough.
So we sat on the downstairs terrace - there were people at 2 other tables there.
The waitress came quickly enough and took our drinks order, leaving us enough time to browse through the menu for our food - I liked that!
We ordered a quesadilla with refried beans, a chile con carne and a mixed grill with jacket potato and corn on the cob. We asked for 2 empty plates because we would be sharing everything. The waitress then asked what order we would like the dishes served. I couldn't believe my ears!
And we actually got everything just the way we ordered it.
The food was very good, too - though the gravy/sauce with the mixed grill was too sweet for my palate and the chile con carne could have had more chile!
The gf then ordered a white chocolate cheesecake with home-made strawberry sauce and thought it was fantastic.
I had a glass or red wine at only 90 baht, she had a fresh orange juice, and we drank a whole pitcher of margarita between us.
Paid the bill and just about still got change out of a 1000 baht note - very good value IMO.
The waitress then explained the Friday buffet to us in detail - good marketing!!
So, all in all, very pleasant ambiance, excellent service, very good food and great value for money.
Will we go back? - sure, we'll be there for this Friday's buffet

If this was last Saturday night it was a birthday party I and my wife took part in and we are sorry if we were a bit noisy for you.barrys wrote:After reading this thread, I went there a few days ago with the gf, though I didn't know what to expect because I know virtually zilch about Mexican cuisine.

This was my second time at the Terrace 90 and I have only good thing to say about the food. The service isn't great but acceptable and I can really recommend the Terrace 90.

Hope you had a good evening

Re: Terrace 90 restaurant
Finally made it to Terrace 90 last night.......all I can say is that the Mexican food (Nacho Grande starter and Chimichangas) was fantastic - really nicely cooked, great taste and well presented. The whole place is just really cool! The service was great - the waitress described really well how the Chimi's were prepared and cooked, which I thought was very impressive. The price are perfect - you leave with the feeling that you got a great meal and great value - its the right level for Hua Hin - priced so that locals will come and keep coming back for more.
Big thumbs up from me to all at Terrace 90, you have made a great addition to the food scene here and i will certainly be there regularly.

Re: Terrace 90 restaurant
Just got back from a very nice evening out.
The place was very easy to find. It is new, clean and modern looking. The toilets were clean.
Apart from the rough looking girl with a rose tattoo on her arm the service was welcoming and attentive.
I was in a very hungry mood and ordered up big. For myself I had the Roast beef and a chicken Chimichanga. The Roast beef was a little tough but for the price of only 159 baht I was not going to complain. The mash, gravy and onions were simply superb. If I didn't give my two bread rolls away to my kids it would have been enough.
The Chimichanga was the real winner though. A taste sensation and one which I will be back for again and again. 199 baht.
The Californian glass of red wine for only 90 baht was surprisingly good. My wife enjoyed her large glass of Margarita. 109 baht.
My four year old had the basic hamburger. The meat was ordinary and very very dry, the bread roll was good and the chips cooked well. The bottom line is that she loved it and that is all that mattered on this night. If I had ordered it I would have been disappointed. 109 baht.
My wife and two kids shared some garlic bread. They said it was good. 60 baht.
My wife had the bocconcini mozzarella (100 baht) and tom yum soup (seafood) 80 baht. She said they were good, not excellent but good.
My three year old daughter had a bowl of glass noodle soup with Pork. I had a try and it was fine.
For desert the kids had a scoop of ice cream each (40 baht total) and I had a chocolate base cheese cake with strawberry. Having just sold my own bakery shop I am probably being a little harsh here as I would just say it was fine. Nothing wrong with it, just cheap ingredients but for 55 baht once again I am not going to complain. Other drinks were a hot Mocha (30 baht) a soda water (20 baht) and a bottle of water for 15 baht.
Total price was 1,126 baht.
Great prices and good food - we will be back.
As a side note, driving around HH for the last 5 days we have noticed so many restaurants without a single customer inside. We were there for 2 hours and witnessed 7 other tables come and go (from a table of 1 to a table of 5) so for a Thursday night 250 m down a side during low season, they are doing well! Keep the prices like they have and I believe they will succeed.

Yeah, it was a nice place, still is! Sad we had to leave but happy with what we achieved and who has purchased the place.

Re: Terrace 90 restaurant
Well, we've been back to Terrace 90 three times since my last post.
We went to the Friday night buffet on the first of these occasions and, although the food was good, the organisation was rather chaotic.
Lots of people and food not coming out quickly enough.
The result: you had to eat what you could find rather than what you wanted - this led to a long queue at the buffet table and the first few snatching everything as it came.
Out patience paid off, though - we simply waited until the panic had died down.
They obviously hadn't expected so many people and were victims of their own popularity.
A few weeks later, we tried the buffet again and they'd got it right.
Although there were at least as many people (maybe more in fact), all the different dishes were plentiful all the time.
Really good food and great value for 199 baht.
Got to speak to the owner that evening, too - a very pleasant man - and he confirmed that they'd simply been overwhelmed a few weeks previously.
He later sent over a round of complementary Margaritas to our table - a really nice gesture
There was also a duo playing some very pleasant background music on the upstairs terrace.
Seven of us then went there again last week for a birthday party and ordered from the menu.
The other 5 were there for the first time. We had a great evening and everyone enjoyed their food and the Margarita.
People ordered appetizers, steaks, bbq platters, burrito, etc.
Apparently, if we'd booked 2 days in advance, they would have made a complementary birthday cake!
We were there for about 4 hours and the total bill was 3800 baht - with just over half of that accounted for by 6 pitchers of Margarita!!
Terrific value for money and it was the most pleasant birthday I've had for a good while - and it was nice to see Dtaii-Maii out again for a change!!
