Obtaining PR removes any risk of not being able to stay here with family should Immigration introduce tougher criteria for annual extensions or a foreigners income and/or money in bank became insufficient. Once obtained you do not need any extensions ever again, and your right to be a resident is not affected at all by divorce or loss of employment.

sarge,
I would just like to add my empathy to your plight, having been through one nasty break up over here; it sounds as though you are already looking on the brighter side though so keep that up.

SJ,
Anyone I have ever spoken to says that PR is both absurdly expensive and difficult if not impossible to obtain for most; I am keen to hear what the actual costs and probabilities are from what you know though? I have never knowingly met anyone who has it in over 10 years in Thailand either.

I suggest we start a new thread on this topic to prevent this one getting polluted and going off topic.

I have started a thread on PR here if anyone cares to respond rather than sidetracking this one.

Just a Thought

Post by Earth »

Refer to the above
a little disappointed at the way HH has changed over the last 4 years. Also share Buksi view of how vunerable we are even though we have kids here and invested so much.

Well, I think this is a very good time to present farang vunerable to Huahin.... Only make it real like big pictures-touchable, colorful, nice and can admire to name as a good example.

The example that i could think it now are---

1. Since most of Thai could not speak Eng well, you may set up a CENTER FOR CHILDREN OR THAI PEOPLE TO STUDY ENGLISH FOR FREE!! ( certain days such as MON, WED, FRI at..... 2 hours would be good timing, I guess )

2. Helping LOCAL KIDS by being as a guest to Thai-lOCAL SCHOOL to teach them for FREE!! (Time can be set up and TAKE TURN, as lOTS OF FARANG IN HUAHIN......Only gather and make it real-----remakable and benefit to community.....
EX.Huahin school, HuaHinVittayakom, NongPlub, HuayMongkol, Paknampran .etc...

Rather than disappointed it by staying home boring-Let's make your fire spark up again.... You will be more HAPPYIER!!! I am sure also you would proud in yourself by doing GOOD things not only loss your breath with unvalued and time was pass by... Farang have lots of abilities---just show it present it to the place or community that you stay....,

Everyone and see, both Thai and non Thai. It is showed how remakable value of you to stay, they would love you more!!! like a star!! create and generate huahin a better place ... like you love Huahin to be!!

3. Beach cleaning-look at good way-good exercise, good activities, good example to Thai (creating earth awareness)--This topic i have ever heard about "beach cleaning" but not hear it anymore myself... make it last long as a big theme and don't make it fade away even how much disappointed you by Thai or non-Thai corporate.

I am sure many Thai learn from you-- farang, Make it real and remarkable!! It is farang’s masterpiece-outcome in Huahin!!!! people all over Thailand will admire you!! Farang..in HUAHIN

Don't you think so? I believe many farang have had lots of abilities, education, and experience in international, earth responsibilities.... Present it out and make it as an example place in Thailand that how farang stay with respect and help to make Huahin as a paradise place or heaven for kids and everyone both Thai and FARANG. I believe it farang altogether help without soreheart and MAKE IT SHOW FOR GRANTED.......... I am sure people all over Thailand will gets their eyes to see it as good example and appreciate to what you have done, to their paradise place....

Not only make them think that farang at Huahin are same as Thai only another businessperson in Huahin, well known of, properties agentsss, housing projects, bars or restaurants owners or stay in Thailand for hiding purpose!!drug, wife, biz problem, crime or whatsoever..

Also some of the problem real happens by farang!! as farang could not perform legal themself then “have to” use Thai lawyer to do the paper under the Thai law. Speaking the same language and trusting is the point. However those Thai and farang are good and bad. Choose to be!! And choose to see!!

With my respect,
Cheers,

Novice,
i see your post is a good intention and some things like a beach clean up is a very good idea.
On the other hand the Thai's are proud people. Teaching english for free is a good idea too but where do we live? In Thailand. So normally we all should learn to speak Thai.
Just imagine the Thai comunity in England would set up a free Thai language school that the British can comunicate with them in Thai.
Also the idea of letting professionals that are surely with us teach them how get certain skills. The Thai's will see this as arrogant which it sometimes is.
Just my thought at the side by the way.
With my respect

Cheers

Earth,
You have good thoughts. Where are you from?
Falang must keep in the background and not hurt Thai feelings.
Yes we can clean the beaches and streets but we must not brag about it.
Small things, like helping the kids at Mercy House will in the long term gain a lot of respect for the expats in Hua Hin.
By the way, your comments on gamblers are very good.

Happy!! I love Huahin

Post by Earth »

To Loverboy44--Might asking for Thai (who have eng knowledge )volunteer to assist farang. I believe we could find!! more than one!! If it is real I could arrange by asking for Thai Airways Staff ( plenty of them graduate in Master Degree and some are specilist in teaching or about Eng language, now as lots of them not flying due to economic-, they also like doing charity!!., They would willing to help on us. They always spends time at Huahin for their vaction then why not charity? I might able to arrange for this one!! Let's try!! if our number of Farang is ready. Also at school in Huahin, not a big deal to contact. Should try..

I love Huahin...and want it to be a good place or happy people to stay for a life time...

Cheers,

Great thoughts Earth and I applaud the intent, although anyone wanting to do any work, paid or unpaid, has to obtain the correct permission from the authorities and that includes charity work and teaching. Not trying to put a downer on it but those are the rules of this country and we wouldn't want anyone getting kicked out for doing something good would we?

Hallo There MrPlun and all others here on HHAD

Well after almost 10 years in Thailand (with occasional long spells abroad lasting not longr than 10 months) with more than 4 years (just 2 days shy to make it 5) in Hua Hin @ THE Uinv. CAMPUS waaayyy inside Palm Hills I can say that I'm generally Happy to be here in Thailand.
@ first I was very vety sceptical of me studying in Thailand. I wanted to walk the same path as my Sister studying College in California but my Father had Stamford Hua Hin in mind so very reluctantly (I had to be pushed, pulled, shouved and dragged back ) I had come back to my roots which later on became a blessing of such enormous perportion that I well cherish my study years forwever. As a foreign born Thai I have to adapt, but not assimmililate into Thai Lifestyle furthermore Thai class mentality whcih whcih was WAAYYY diffrent from that I was used to in the West.
The essence of Life in Thailand as a Foreign born Thai is you gotta keep the Good traits from the Country you originated and try to combine it with the laid back Thai life style.
Almost 10 years in Thailand and the process of combining the best of both worlds ain't done yet. it ain't done yet!!!

Your's The understudy!!!
In Love with Hua Hin since 19naughty9 and it ain't fading!!!

I voted for the top 'Yes' bit.

OK, sometimes petty bureaucracy can wind me up a tad, but on the whole I can't think of a better place to live. I love my new job - the pay's not great but I have everything I need - and don't have to worry about mortgage payments, poll tax, huge utility bills, etc. I actually have more disposable income than I ever did in the UK.

I do think that you need to go back to your 'homeland' once in a while, just to remind yourself of why you're living here (once every two years does the trick). We've been here for over 11 years and have no desire to return to mud island.

VS

Sorry to hear about your circumstances Sarge. I'm sure you'll find a way to get through these difficult times. I think that Thailand's where you're destined to be. Chock dee, ka.

To all those that have posted your sympathy I thank you. To the many that have PMd me I will get round to answering them but I am busy moving on.
The object of my post was A and in the large part to get it of my chest.
But also to say that life here is and always has been the same amount of trial and tribulation that your life would give you anywhere in the world .
Am I happy here right now no I am miserable I cant stop crying but it has nothing to do with the location
If you will forgive my ironic metaphor life wherever you are is just a matter of how the cards fall and how you deal with it
I am lucky I have my sense of humour to see me through all this crap and I am moving on already
Thanks frank ill do it MY way
