who / where do you use to insure these?

I bought a 2015 Versys from Motoholic one month ago. K'Por at Club Moto was very helpful. The process was very smooth. I did go in and talk two or three times.

I drove my scooter hog all the way to Kuiburi (one hour) and picked the bike out. They brought it to HH the next day for me without a deposit. I picked it up at Club Moto on Soi 126(?).

I passed on the Honda CB500X because I did not want to go to Bangkok for service and after the recall I just did not want to take a chance.

You need to go into the store. Know what you want to buy, ask to see it. No Honda bikes larger than 300 cc in HH, you have to go to Bangkok. Then make sure you have your passport, visa or work permit, letter from immigration verifying your address and the cash.

When I called Honda Bigwing Wing in Bangkok I was told that I could not buy a bike from Honda because I did not have a work permit. (which is wrong) That is another reason I passed on the Honda. K'Por at Club Moto (Motoholic) speaks very good English.

Honda did not respond to emails. Hard to believe, but this is Thailand, not Japan.

It can be very frustrating trying to buy a bowl of noodles in Thailand much less a new motorcycle.

FORGET about getting a return call or email. You must be proactive. K'Por was the only person who emailed me and kept in touch.

If you want a Ducati, just walk into the store and buy it. They have every model in the HH store just sitting there. If they don't you just wait one day for them to bring it down from Bangkok. Same same drill with paperwork and cash.

The Versys is a very tall bike, I am six feet tall and my feet just touch the ground with my legs fully extended and knees locked. Not really a entry level or beginner bike. Crazy fast enough to kill yourself and what feels like a very high center of gravity.

For anyone who has not driven a BIG motorcycle in Thailand, you truly cannot believe how much more dangerous it is here than riding a scooter. Just a warning and something to think about.

Also a flashy bike like a Ducati attracts a lot of attention, which does make driving sometimes very difficult in Thailand. I have many people running out to look at my cheap Japanese Versys and it can be difficult as traffic slows and stops to gawk at my bike. That as one reason why I wanted a honda, to blend in more.

Anyway good luck and make sure you have insurance and a will.

I had similar good sales experience from Motoaholic. My wife ordered a green Versys 650 in November for my birthday in January. They told her delivery would be for January but I got my bike in the first week of December. Kui Buri team were great getting my bike ready and showing me its features. Only complaint is that I didn't get a red license plate my permanent plate arrived just last week. Not really a big issue I rode it without a plate.

Same as what JamesWest said I chose the Kawasaki because of the nearby service. So far its been a great ride though I did put some Pirelli Scorpion Trails on it to improve traction.

Well, I'm not sure if this is relevant

I have a Ducati Hyperstrada 821, which i took delivery on 27 December 2013. Its been well serviced, and well looked after, and has a number of useful, Ducati-approved modifications, including Termignoni Exhaust. Currently just over 10K kms

I'm contemplating selling it (not 100% sure yet, as I love the bike)

If you or anyone is interested, drop me a pm.

where did you buy the Pirelli tires?
I bought them at Demo Racing they are located at the first U-turn after the Ford dealership. They have big bikes for sale out front and sell helmets, leathers, aftermarket parts etc. I had them put Pirellis on my PCX and a rear hugger on the Versys also. I'm sure Club Moto or X-Speed have the tires also.

Club Moto do stock Pirelli, whether they have the Scorpion trail in stock is another question. Best check with K'Por.
C.M. also have a balancing machine where as I don't think any other shop in H.H. has.
