I remember the old R5 GT Turbo, used to wipe the floor with them in my Pug 205 1.9 GTi.

The Mk I Golf GTi 1800 was also a great car.

Neither of those would have come close to the turbo. You're deluded

BTW, just looked and the best time for the 1.9 GTi was over 7secs. The Renault turbo was about 6.7 Not a lot in it but the Williams was 6.3. As said, that was the best car I've ever driven.

When I had the BMW323i (sports trim) a company car, I took my daughters and boyfriends to a drag race (love the sport and the guys who do it). Well rain so water on the drag so no racing. Announcement over the PA 'any guys there with fat treads to volunteer to dry the track' Daughters said 'go on Dad'. No no no said I but my eldest grabbed my keys and says 'I will then'

She weaved the beamer all over the strip with several other guys and then went back to the start and blew the quarter mile like a bat outta hell in a very competitive time

Needless to say, I drove home very sedately feeling upstaged

ps It was a company car but you were allowed to mod up at your expense hence fatter treads and supped up engine and suspension. Capable of 160mph which I only ever got close to in France and got nicked

I had a 125cc Yamaha Enduro, that I mainly rode off road followed by a 175cc Yamaha because the 125 wouldn't climb the hills and keep up with my friends mostly on 250's. That was in my 20's and the last time I rode a bike (other than as a passenger).

Cars:

Red 1966 Mustang (actually my Mom's car but I drove it a hell of a lot more than her). Exactly like this one:

1972 Oldsmobile Cutless convertable (exactly like this one but with white interior and fake wire spoke hub caps.

Bought it and used it to haul a travel trailer.

1976 Toyota Celica (I think I liked it because it reminded of my earlier Mustangs)

1979 Toyota Celica (similar to this but coupe instead of hatchback)

197? Toyota Land Cruzer (served me well in the desert of Saudi Arabia)

1984 Toyota MR2 (The most fun car I've ever owned!)

1986 Nissan Pathfinder (The very first SUV... coined the phrase, mine was dark blue though)

Never had a bike but my dad had 12 in his life. All Nortons!!!
I've had the usual domestic junkers including an AMC Hornet sort of a smaller brother of the Matador shown in the 15 ugliest cars.
On the more interesting side I had a A-H 3000 BJ8. Fun but the body was in need of chemotherapy the cancer was pretty advanced.
Ford Sierra 1.6 when we lived in France, heavy underpowered car but very thirsty (especially at euro gas prices!).
Benz 280SL was a money pit. The last straw was the $559.00 (16,000 baht!!!) muffler (silencer). That was for the can only- installation, clamps and fittings not included. Car never went to the shop and came out under $1000.
Only Toyotas since 1982 now!

After my early daredevil years of biking on frozen lakes I quickly realized I will have a better chance of surviving if I switched to cars. I have owned lots of cars and basically loved them all, except the Land Rover Freelander that I had a love & hate relationship with. My most beloved cars were the 1973 Porsche Carrera RS; the 1996 Porsche Carrera 4S and my truly sinister BMW M5 Dinan!

The only two I've really loved was a 1978 Jeep Golden Eagle CJ-7 rag top with a V8 in it. What a fun ride and reliable. An American Motors engine block and everything else was either Chevy or Ford. That's the way AMC built things in those days. Drove it back and forth Chicago to California including over the Rockies in the winter. It had a plug in block heater and I'm not sure any car has them any longer.

The second was a 1986 Mustang 5.0L GT with manual 5 speed. Another fun car that the California Highway Patrol also used.

Other than that nothing special, but I do have a soft spot for high riding pick up trucks. Pete

Book 0-60 speeds are for unmodified factory standard cars, GT Turbos were in the rear-view most of the time but, yes, I couldn't catch the Williams.

Would be nice to have some decent hot-hatches available here, but then considering the way they drive pickups its probably better that there isn't any.

ive had loads of cars hate to count them had a escort 1600 for a week think that was my shortest one,even had a car i never drove a austin princess van den plas or something it was burgundy ,bought it cheap off a friend in need,and just parked it up in my garage,in fact it could still be there ,

my all time favourite was a 2.8 capri just loved that, had about 7-8 capris ,then moved on to bmws had several of those, the 318 i coupe being my best in black

also had a triumph spitfire i liked that ,but could only use it at weekends or for shows

had plenty of vans too .luton transit my favorite van.it made me my money ,while a car just costs you money

i dont think i could seriously list all my cars and vans it must be over 50

I have had several bikes and cars but only 1 really captured my heart -

My 1979 Mike Hailwood Ducati. It was the 3rd one of the original batch to be released with a frame number of 000003 (as you would expect).

It was 900cc's of pure thunder with its twin 50mm del-ortos, bellmouths and contis. Everytime I started it up it sounded like Cozy Powell having a fit on his drum kit.

I almost couldn't own another bike as I don't believe it could be bettered by anything on this planet.

Picture is not actually mine as I haven't got a scanner these days but they were pretty similar.

Not a huge list..... had bikes many moons ago, despite various warnings and threats of a firm boot up my @rse from my father!! Have not riden for a long while now and doubt very much I will again - I've a few ''dream cars'' I want to try!! In the past, car-wise I've tended to have the use of company cars but have enjoyed a couple of my own........
