What young people?
thats what i mean.

and this has to change.

With disneyland and other projekts the Town will move from an boring fishing village full of old farangs to a pulsing modern city for young people and familys.

If you dont like the 'boring old fishing village' then you should move on

Why are you here if you think it's boring????

Take a poll. I bet 99% want HH to stay as it is and do not want a 'venice beach' environment

Besides if you are feeling bored in this boring 'old fishing village' wait until the high speed boat link is established and go across and build your sandcastles there in Pattaya. You can rent buckets and spades too!!!!

I think if you take a Poll, it would be quite reasonable to include ALL Thai residents in Petchaburi and Prachaup Kiri Kan area. It is there country!

Maybe the results would be 99%, but not the 99% that you refer to.

Change is enevitable, and you and I will have no input into it, whatsoever.

It may happen, it may not, if it doesn't something worse will problably be a few years around the corner.

I think the best comment on this thread was made by someone who said that the authorities won't let it happen. That, after living here nearly 9 years, I can understand, but so much has been swept under the carpet - development wise- over the years that I don't necessarily trust this spin from the powers that be any more.
Maybe, VeniceBeach, you could be a bit more specific in how you think this town should go forward in some kind of "thrusting, younger way".
As others have said, progress is inevitable, but it would be interesting to hear your views of where the town should be going.
Try to be specific, not general.

Is he talking about farang young people or Thai young people?

If you are talking about young farangs then I wish you good luck with your fatiguing battle with Thai immigration office.
I intend to live forever - so far so good.

I have enough of Hua Hin beeing a Altersheim.

The farangs which dont like it, can move to Isaan or somewhere in to the Jungle where they can keep their own little world.

For the young people and the thai people it will be a great development
Feeding time again...

Why will it be great for Thais? Unless you are talking about employment? Most of them won't be able to afford to get through the gates.

How long have you lived in Hua Hin? Unless you are talking 10 years or more, then I would suggest that instead of telling long-timers to get out, you consider leaving yourself, considering you "have enough of Hua Hin".

I am younger than many members of this forum, and I have a young son, and he's Thai (so we fit right into the demographic of your final sentence), but I don't want a Disneyland here.

Is this guy for real in one oft quoted sentence he uses the words TOWN VILLAGE and then CITY
He then bitches at lack of progres HELLO that is in only 9 years and its done sweet buggerall for 90% of the thais they are still earning pittances
The Tesco bonanza is already wearing thin as far as the thais are concerned as staff leave they are not all being replaced  :?

As for young i would suggest that he looks at the visa laws and work laws for falangs if he has a brain at all he will realize the thai govt/people dont want young falangs here taking work from thais they want old farts like me that bring a steady 800,000 baht a year from abroad and take care of a whole thai family to boot :D :D

If he wants young bugger of to benidorm oh sorry the young have screwed that place up already :cuss:

One of the more attractive features of most of Asia (not just Thailand) to me is that the majority of Asians that I know do not need the provision of instant gratification that most westerners seem to need and expect wherever they go.

I have seen many changes to HH due to western influences since I first visited many years ago and, with the exception of western style sanitation (I struggle with "traditional" facilities) and hygiene standards, there is little that we as westerners have done to improve what was already here.

My recent experience in Phuket tells me we don't want that here

Here's a copy of my post to Phuket forums and to the Phuket gazette

I have lived in Thailand for 5 years now and although resident in Hua Hin have travelled the Kingdom widely

I have been to Phuket many times but on the last visit some week or so ago was appalled at the behaviour on the beach. The beach in question is the one near the Meridien marina.

It's a family beach and with a small lagoon behind the beach ideal for small children to play in. With the majority of Farang families commanding the main beach the Thais tend to find shelter under the trees while their children play in the lagoon. Idyllic one may say.

However this was marred on my visit by an Italian gentleman and I assume his 2 sons together with 3 Thai girls indulging in activities under the blanket in full view of all and sundry. Many parents moved their children away. The lewd group made no bones about their antics and seemed to welcome a spectator performance. This was complimented by a lesbian sun oil massaging of each other and then kissing and frolicking in the sea.

I am no prude but think these sort of activities should be confined to the appropriate places. Certainly not on a family beach. My Thai wife was disgusted and ashamed to be Thai

Do the Tourist police not patrol beaches on Phuket? Certainly here in Hua Hin the offenders would end up in the monkey house

Hope you publish this as I feel it will ultimately damage your tourism or at worst label Phuket as a sex haven which I know it isn’t

Regards

Shure there will be also more young Farangs, when Hua Hin goes away of beeing an old fishing village and developes to a little modern city.

Maybe you are living in your own world and you are thinking Hua Hin is made, to give old people all arround the globe a place where they can retire and keep a low priced life, while local people are on their service.

But i have talked to many young educated thais. And they would like of corse, that their Hometown develops. They would like to have same things like other developped countrys or Citys in Europe the US or anywehre have.

They would like to have clubs, shoppingmalls, cinemas, Entertainmentparks and so on.

I know that you dont like when YOUR  old little fishing village develops and you lose your little paradise, butt, this is not your Country you are just tolareated guests like I am.

When Hua Hin develops in the right way, there will be a good mix out of young and old falangs and thais, there will be something for everyone. More young tourists will come to hua hin and this will be great for the business as well. I am not talking of backpackers i am talking of young people from around the world and from bangkok with money in their pockets wich stay away at the moment, because hua hin has nothing for younger people and at the beach the peoples age is 50+

Last thing I want HH to become is Venice Beach, populated by vacuous roller-bladers with the IQ of houseplants looking for mirrors to enjoy the view.

Wow cool so may replies to my Topic!
Anyways to VeniceBeach Hua Hin has develloped and if you want young Poeple in Hua Hin then I suggest you walk around the Bight narket around 5 to 7 in the evening to watch Students from nearby Universities having Dinner!
VeniceBeach maybe Hua Hin isn't the right place for young Farang Youths right now. "Why are there no young Farangs here in this town?" That was my question a couple of years ago too when I studyied at this International University way inside Palm Hills but then I discovered the Charm of this town which lies in the laid back atmosphere and it's people the small streets and it has a well balenced Tourist section (execpt the Hua Hin Market Village) which does not Pop in you Face kinda Atttitude. It has the feel of a Mid Size Mediterreanian Town with Restaurants Bars Cafe's and shops. (This is the Artist inside me point of WieV)
Of course Hua Hin can devellop but with more attractions attracting the youth like Bunjee Jumping around Pah La U and so on. as Long as it does not damage or distroy the unique Charm of this Town.
As for foreign Investments are concerned the outlook is not good at all. With the unclear set of policies the Govt has and an Interrim Parliarment consisting mainly of people ages 50 up. I cannot see where 21st Century changes can be spearheaded and implemented.
