Things are getting serious. I just received an SMS alert that poilce have fired tear gas in Bangkok at 2,000 protestors trying to storm the main police station. Lomu, you may want to rethink your trip on Monday if things escalate throughout the weekend. :( Pete

A colleague of mine is flying into Bangkok at the weekend and he’s beginning to get concerned as well, particularly by this latest tactic of the PAD blockading airports.

Read the PAD SA Times article on PAD and it doesn't cast PAD in a very good light. The puzzling question is the position of the King. Apparently on two separate occasions he's given his support to Samak, so what gives?

I note the Baht has strengthened against the pound again today. Dammit. I arranged the coup to make it go the other way, as I have cash to transfer over. :?

I'm not so concerned about political change. At least it is still possible in this country unlike our own 'democratic' EU Superstate without a referendum'..

The same as my partner when I spoke to on the phone earlier; I asked her about the political problems in Bangkok and she replied, “There’s no problem, I’m in Buriram!”

A Thai customer has just told me that most of the Police used in yesterdays actions were from the Army wearing police uniforms.

'The Nation' website reports that Samak is in Hua Hin at the moment having been granted an audience with HRH.

 Maybe Samak has to resign in person.

PM to be granted an audience with HM the King at 5pm Saturday

He will fly to Hua Hin and is scheduled to be granted an audience at 5pm to report the political tensions in the country.

Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej is expected to be granted an audience with HM the King this afternoon.

Anti-government protesters have seized the Government House since Tuesday and police's uses of forces on the protesters on Friday added the tensions to the political atmosphere.

An informed source said that Samak failed to have an audience with HM the King earlier, so he is rescheduled this afternoon.

So the PM was sent away the first time and told to report back at 5pm, that has got to be a loss of face, surely.

Pinmanee being as friendly as ever:

Gen Pallop Pinmanee, a former adviser to the Internal Security Operations Command, said Friday that the fight by the People's Alliance for Democracy would not remain peaceful if he leads the fight.

Giving an interview on Channel 3, Pallop said he would not stop in as long as his friend, Chamlong Srimuang, still leads the fight.

"But if I step in to lead it I'll use my way, which is not peaceful one," Pallop said.

"To reach our goal, sometime it has to be painful so that it could go ahead. It's possible that it could be similar to the May 1992 bloodshed."
