I used to live in Harpenden which is only about 5 miles from Hemel Hempstead.
Do you remember a night club called Scamps in Hemel, we used to get over there quite a bit.
Have been living in Australia for the last 25 years and am in Perth West Australia at present.
Was in HH earlier in the year and had a ball.

Hi
Leaving Norway in january 2006, this time I'll try HH. How far is it from BK int airp. to the nearest railway station. Do I have to order place to stay before I leave NO, or can i wait until I arrive HH??
Any recommendation where to stay in HH??

HH is about 250 km from the airport and about 220 from downtown Bangkok. Taxis cost about 2,000 baht one way. Since you coming in here for the first time, take a taxi. Trains are slow and most of them will leave in the afternoon or early evening. Taxi is also a good option if you don't have a hotel booked (or even if you have), because then you don't have to carry your bags while looking for the hotel.
As for recommendations for hotels, you'd need to tell us your preferred price range, location etc. Go and have a look at the accommodation section first, there' quite a lot of information there.

I'm a backpacker so my budget is low.
A request is shower, AC and pleasant staff. I'll stay 3 weeks this time and I planned to go from HH to Samui(bus-boat??) and maybe stop on other islands on my way south.

New Member well sort off

Regarding Pattaya and transport there are a number of threads already about this so check the "On the road" section or try a search.
Flooding seems to have gone down now, its been hot and sunny for the last three days.
