I tried to explain the exact same thing in terms of slang to my better half. She just looked at me as if I were daft. Pete

Isn't it a pity that the first thought that springs to mind is what is he taking? Even the Jamaican women are at it. When they jog the last 20 metres and break world records, you have to wonder. Maybe it's because Bolt is so tall. Those longer leg strides.

I used to admire these fantastic performances until the drugs cheats made everyone suspect. Watch a year or two down the line, as testing catches up with doping, medals will be stripped retrospectively. Either that or their are a bunch of positive tests waiting until after the games are over.

Clean athletes must be sickened when they see others getting away with it after all the effort they put in.

Also hope we don't have a repeat of the unsporting posing that Maurice Green (He of the strange lolling tongue) and the 4x100 relay guys gave us. And what about Phelps? Why no whoopin' and a hollerin'? All those millions coming his way, you'd have thought he would raise a smile.

Such negativity aside, I'm enjoying the spectacle. Love the US Basketball. Great skill, defence, showmanship. Waste of time anyone else turning up! Same with the Chinese divers. All shaped like whippets.

Not sure about the infants that won the gymnastics. They must start them on the high beam while still in nappies. Gutting to be too old at 20. Did you see the British female swimmers who won Gold and Bronze? Great result.

Time to watch Nadal demonstrate his amazing athleticism.

just how much more would he have taken off the world record if he hadn't posed & postured over the last 30 metres??

like mr plum, the first thing that springs to mind is the drug issue, sad but true :(
