I will be staying in Hua Hin nov-dec this year...
I been at the gym near the Grand Hotel before.

There´s supposed to be a better gym at the Hilton hotell, anyone got info about it??
Membership fee etc.
Is there free weights there?
Is it possible to do deadlifts there, some gyms dont allow that

Hope some of u guys got some info...

There are A few Gyms around the hotels and one independent gym
none of the hotels could realy be called gyms due to no or very limited free weights ..

as the independent gym does not seem to wish to advertise on HHAD i will pm the name and link to you
the average charge for most of the place s aroun hua hin is around 150 < 200 Thb per session

Gym in Hua Hin?

Post by maggie »

I would like to know if its possible to use the gyms in the big hotels just for a period of 10 days or so?

Will stay in a guest house with no gym fascilites during our next stay in Hua Hin, and after enjoying all that exquisit good food and drinks for a day og two, the need for a "work-out" is absolutely neceserry.......

There is allways the possibility of running in the beach, but then I started thinking of all the stray dogs.........will they leave me alone, or run along/after me....

I am a "morning bird", and like to work out in the really early morning hours, and as the beach is not exactly full of people during morning hours, I kind of see my self running for my life with a lot of dogs chasing me  - I`m not very fond of theese dogs........

Any suggestions, anyone ? for how I can solve this luxury problem for my holliday?

whilst running on the beach carry a big stick
beach dogs seem to have learned that people carring stcks will usualy hit them ,and stay clear

Maggie,
I've been walking the beach pretty regularly in the mornings over the past few weeks and whilst there are some dogs around, it's nowhere near as bad as a few years ago.
If you're worried, take Soul Monsta's advice and pretend you're in a relay race holding a big baton :D

Seriously, I don't think you'll have any trouble.

Come on, friends.
Just leave the dogs alone - and they leave you alone. They live free and are in generel friendly creature. You can even make 'friends' with them if you just 'take it easy'.
They now your the boss and will not bother you if you not aske them too.

Sorry about that folks, if I gave you the impression that I didnt take your answers ( or the dogs) seriously, its just that I`m really frightened of them ............. and it most certainly isnt the dogs fault...........

Thank you very much for your answers and concernes for both me and the dogs....

I will have a look-see when we arrive and probably end up in a gym anyway (as the chicken I am when it comes to dogs.............)

Yes,and quite right you are. I am an animal lover but here in Thailand I have been attacked by dogs a number of times. Once was by a Rottweiler. I had to hurt the beast quite seriously to stop it.

As for the Gym, I really hate to have to promote the above mentioned establishment but I think the Hilton will be your best bet for ad hoc visits.

,
If you're pumping iron and/or are into contact sports the gym near Grand Hotel is your best bet.
Their equipment is better and you'll have an instructor at hand.

Hilton on the other hand has space for tennis and at least used to have squash. Of the
two Hilton is much dearer.Check it out: www.grandsporthuahin.com

Thanks for the advice, Farang

Seems to be a good choice with Grandsports then, except that I cannot open their home page for one ore another reason... will try later..

Me and my daughter are both into contact sports so it might be the right place :thumb:

Dear Mr Soul Monster

Post by SebDangerfield »

U kindly offered to PM the Post Originator with details of a private gym. Could you find it in your heart to do likewise for me too, please.

It was interesting to hear that Maggie and her daughter are both into contact sports. Me too, though only with females and targetting below the belt is the main objective rather than warranting a public warning - lol. Never engaged in my own contact sport  wiv a mother and daughter same time, though - there's time......there's time.

On the subject of dogs. Ordinarily friendly beasts can become quite excited and agressive towards runners, cyclists etc. Best stick to the gym or at least carry a stick (as a bazooka would make the running damn awkward and bruise your shoulder).
