This thread was getting to me so tonight we ate fish and chips from a great local chippy. Rock and chips for me, cost 4.70gbp and large cod and chips at 5.10gbp for her indoors. I mean the cod does not fit on a large plate! Its great the missus loves fish and chips.

I know I'm going orf topic, but good fish and chips is a religion. The best take away places I've found are in Sheffield, Gord knows why? The best I've eaten in a pub here was a place in Lynmouth, in Devon, last October. Truly, truly magical, great beer batter, kind of a gastropub type of place. Internationaly, Doyles at Watsons Bay on Sydney Harbour is sheer perfection, the best beer battered fish I have ever tasted.

So next time I'm in town, I will be seeking out this new place - if its still there by the time I get back?

Enjoy! :thumb:

I have heard they are better in the North. The ones at Motorway service stations and places like Brighton are shit.

Peter Wilson was still around at the chippy six weeks ago but he does go back to the UK for Visas, sometimes. Richard has to be around when the frying's done. When he wasn't on site when he ran Col's it was a disaster. Luke warm oil, half cooked fries and always they forgot the mushy peas and by the time you got them everything was cold.
