Rude farangs !

Post by BelgianBoy »

Ok, here we go, one of my main gripes in Thailand are rude farang.

This morning a VERY rude (deleted by Mod) walks into a local bank ( I wont mention his origin but English native speaker nor which branch ), interrups the lady dealing with me, she wais, he replies with a 'salam aleikum' ( I kid you not !), throws her his bankbook and demands money. No ID nothing.
The lady wants to help, does asks for ID as she does know him, he throws some at her, but later refuses to sign the fotocopy and make an even bigger ass of himself.
'look at my bankbook' and 'dont you know how important I am?'

I apologised to the lady after he left explaining we are not all the same.
Incidently, his important asshole lordship needed 50K Bt, I came to deposit wayyyy mre :D

Why does Thailand atracts the worst of assholes ?
Why do a lot of farang forget any form of etiquette, respect and rules when here ? I understand the tourists waiing restaurant staff, but ths guy ??? :cuss: :cuss:

BB
end of rant and sorry for the language :)

The Thai lady was too polite to let him know she was already dealing with you.
So why not tell him firmly that you are being served and he can wait his turn. In reply to "Don't you know how important I am?" you could have answered "Why ask her, don't you know yourself?" :thumb:
Unfortunately, anal orifices come in all shapes sizes, colours and they speak all languages and adhere to all religions.

JK is right and also some people just have the most terrible off days that can become even worse when alcohol fuelled. I agree that such arrogance can come from any nationality.

No "important" farang would be walking in a bank on his own.

Specifically "salam aleikum" means peace be with. It is a general greeting that can be used by any religion and any race but is of Arabic origin and has now spread to South West Asia and all of the Muslim world including Indonesia and Malaysia.

I must have missed something. How was that particularly insulting over and above the stupid behaviour. It seems he was trying to impress or something and it would to totally out of place for a "natural" English speaker to say it to a Thai but I have never known it to be insulting.

Could you explain.

I suppose it’s not directly insulting, but it is inappropriate.
I know a cantankerous Frenchmen here at my work who was always trying to get me to greet him in French, so I started using the Luxemburgian greeting “moyen” and now he doesn’t speak to me at all!

A truly important falang would have been transported into the bank in a sedan chair. Perhaps Khun Orifice was having his re-upholstered in first quality Thai silk.

Disturbingly, these types are everywhere. I think they come to places like here because they can't pull that crap back where they come from and are so supersilious, insecure and bitter about everything, the only place they can safely let it out is at a bank in a third world country on a women that earns 10,000 baht or less a month.

These types are the plague sweeping a emotionless society on a worldwide scale. If there's any justice............................ OK stop there.

Yes, I agree with you.

However I disagree on the salary.
The lady is the bank assistent, she must earn at least 30K per month.
My wife quit 5 years ago as a currency broker at 75K per month.
Not every Thai is a pauper.....

As I wouldn't like to find myself in the same position as BB, can someone please prepare a list and advise me of all the IMPORTANT people in Hua Hin that I should stand aside for in the Bank.

Please add an asterisk* to any name that I should also stand aside for in the supermarket and a hash# mark for those that I should kiss their arse.

As I am not fully aware of the etiquette for arse kissing, can some of the more experienced arse kissers on the forum please provide some instructions.

Don't let the mutant worry you .he will most probably be staggering around in a bar this afternoon, waving his wad around to impress the girls .Beer chang, lady drinks and gold chains all round ? or maybe ringing the bell in the emptiest bars he can find .The last such creature I came across informed me that we had "brought these people down out of the trees" embarassingly he was English .Not one of our finer exports .
