New iPhone 3G release
Today is the day that has been much enticipated for iPhone users world wide as the all new iPhone 3G will be released in 22 Countries simutanoesly and around 70 Countries by the End of the year.
What so new with in the #G veersion?
The major diffrence is speed of which you surf the Internet. The new iPhone uses UMTS technology to ssurf the Internet while on the go much faster than it's predesessor.
A new GPS locating inside the Google Maps progrma lets you pin point your location where ever you are.
The thrifd New Addition is the Appstore which lets you download diffrent applications from diffrent develloer who are using the Devellopment Tool downloaded in masses after if's release earlier in march this year.
There are some other small to medium size impovements mainly to streamline for the Corperate usiers such as on the Fly Business men CEO's and others
Thailand is not among the 22 schduled for release tonight and not in list of 70 Countries either who will be supp;ied by the End of this year. But please don't dispair there are some schrewed Shops @ MBK who are still getting the new 3G version allthough its not being permitted to activate @ Home via iTunes anymore but it's now in store activation only.
It has been said that that ZiBri the one who created the unlocking Program ZiPhone has allready cracked the new 2.0 version in its beta version. If the new iPhone 3G is getting to Thai shores whether officaially or not it will cost a fortune. make sure to pay around 20k to 26k max Baht for the 8GB version of it. (34k for the 16 GB and a whopping 43k Baht for the 32GB if it reaches Thai shores of course)

Hi Understudy,
Do you know if MBK has it now, or when it will have ?
The first version was unlocked in a place in MBK.
First version was 21,500 Baht for 8G, but now they are down to 19,500B
At the time were same price as Nokia N95 but much better IMO and a built-in iPod. So not expensive compared to.
Cheers,
SJ

Thailand is a long way away from 3G despite what you read in the Bangkok Post Database section! No wonder it wasn't included, there is more advanced technology in Mongolia.
Apple are also forcing carriers to 'lock' clients into contracts so they can sell them cheaper than the previous iPhones - an effort to try to prevent people unlocking them. Little chance of that!

Hi there Buksida!
There are Many regular customers who are closely befriended with an Apple Associate of a local Apple Store and they can get some unactivated iPhone 3G's to the customer. But not over the counter of course. This happens just like a drug sale of this sort. The Apple associate calls hiss friend and asks him it he has some iPhones or the calls happen vice versa then they meet up @ late Nights somewhere behind a fast food joint in the parking lot then the Transaaction takes place. And to conceil the missing iPhone's the apple associate forges Activation Documents and later on he Quits his job to avoid being caught.

There's no comparison to me, but maybe depends on what you use it for, I've only mucked about with mates N95 so never used it fully but screens too small for me.
Some of the more advanced things the original iPhone does (and to be balanced there's plenty it doesn't do that other phones do):
iPod which discounts the phone by nearly 50% straight off, I'd choose it for this alone, carry & charge 1 thing instead of 2.
Big screen with a large on-screen keyboard, again I'd get it above smaller screen phones for this alone.
Open 8 different webpages at same time.
When you go on a website their phone no. and email address' are 'live', so if you touch it you call or your email application opens, saves finding pen & paper
About 500 downloadable third-party applications
Download various encyclopedias, language dictionaries, underground maps from different cities.
It opens PDF's, Word and Excel files.
Open a document/photo, mark it up with comments etc, save it and email back
Watch movie on it comfortably, you can't with the small N95 screen.
Create screenshot images from texts, website pages and email them immediately.
Displays texts as conversations on one page you can scroll down, instead of opening different texts in inbox, then sent and back again.
Google map thing the same detail as off a PC, create an image of what you're looking at and email it.
Dock into your PC and sync calendars/schedules
Take a text message and drop contents into the to-do-list application automatically
Maybe regular phones do some of this stuff too and maybe some of it people would not use so in that case iPhone not neccesary.

Hi there Y'All
iPocalypse Now!
As Sales of the New iPhone 3G has started in the US Apple and its current provider in the US AT&T have absolutely trouble registering and Activating newly bought iPhones in Stores. @ one time people @ one Apple store in Pasadena in the state of California had to wait up to 15 to 20. Minutes to get their iPhones registered and Activated. with lines forming outside hte stores to get the nwe iPhone 3G it took Apple Associates all the day!
With the new iPhone 3G you cannot activate your iPhone at Home anymore but in Apple or AT&T Stores only had made the Apple server collapse many times as the first day of sales.
iPhone 3G in Thailand? Naaa if not any miracles happen like a befriended Apple Sales Associate ect. its highly unlikey that any iPhones 3G will ever surface in Thailand during the next few months.

Hi Understudy,
I'm not sure but it is on sale in Singapore already and the price there is equivalent to 23,500 Baht. Don't know if that means it will be on sale the smae as that here!? The first iPhone was 21,500 Baht, so not much in it. The Samsung does look good, it has a microSD (8GB) card slot too which is handy.
I'll try and find out tmw if its in Bangkok and let you know.

Hi there Super Joe
Anything New on the i900 Prices yet. I'm very eager to hear what the price for the OMNIA is. I also like the size conparesn you gave, The iPhone 3G and the i900 are similar in soze but the touch screen on the OMNIA is a tat smaller but featurewise it beats iPhone by more than a length. I hope this will not reflect back on the price of Samsung's answer to the iPhone 3G!!! \\

What will you guys use if you cant get 3G in Thailand? They have setup experimental coverage in Chiang Mai (surprise - Thaksin's home town) but the rest of the country isn't slated for it until the end of 2009 (and Hua Hin probably 2 years after that).
Can't see the point of having this all singing and dancing phone if the services are not available in Thailand. GPRS/Edge is a joke.
