So what is going on around here and where does it happen? This section is for discussion on local events, festivals, and holidays as well as activities and things to do.
As I can see that the Jazz Festival has sadly gone from a Public Event to a Ritzy Rich Audience. This event will be a complete FLOP as no one will pay such ridiculous Prices for a Jazz concert. Not even my former MassComm Dept. Head who is a jazz head!!!
Somone is Cashcowing from thi concert. 4 Sure!!!
If I get REAL GOOD Red Wine and Premium Snacks then it would be worth the Price but it won't be that way!!!

I don't think the entire event is pay for view, just the performance by Kenny Garrett. What I imagine they may do is have the pay stage for the Bangkok hi-so at the Sofitel and the free stage for the rest of us scumbags at the Hilton.

Every year I read about the dangerous access problems. Looking at the map, these problems will surely escalate ie same amount of people (minus the elite) into a smaller area must at the very least spell major discomfort, and potentially disaster.
It says the Venue is Prime Nature Villa which is 10km out of Hua Hin, not Hua Hin Beach or Sofitel.
Its a completely seperate event as far as I can see.

Could well be in which case they've timed it really well to coincide with the real jazz fest in town

Kenny Garrett is a major jazz artist but I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks he is playing the free main festival (if it actually happens) and will be pretty upset when he discovers it is at a little known resort way out of town; as has already been said, it looks like someone is trying to piggyback on the previous success of the festival, and those prices are outrageous. However there is bound to be some snooty Bangkok jazz fans who will pay them, as it isn't often that a major artist like Garrett plays in Thailand, let alone Hua Hin. Of course he may also be playing the free festival, as no details have been announced yet, and you know how jazz musicians like to jam....
You are speaking right out of my Mind. I would like to see Kenny Garrett having a Jam Session @ One of the Free venues @ The REAL Hua Hin Jazz Festival around downtown and witout permission of the Organisers of the Alternative event.
I'm sure the Organisers woud be pretty pissed to see him @ the other venue. He he he!!!

I am assuming that the "Prime Nature Villa' swankfest is a separate event from the Hua Hin Jazz Festival and that the artists appearing at "Prime Nature Villa" will also be appearing at the Jazz Festival on another day.
I still think that "Prime Nature Villa" will shoot themselves in the foot. Of course there are people who will pay such prices merely to attend an 'exclusive' event. But Kenny Garrett is not a typical smooth jazz lounge artist, so let's hope he's booked to appear at the Jazz Festival proper before he blows a few choruses for the rich and want to be famous crowd.
Those of you in Hua Hin and in the know pleae keep this thread up-dated with the latest news of artists confirmed to play the Jazz Festival.
If anyone had actually clicked on the link that was supplied regarding tickets you would have all seen that it is in fact a separate concert that the hotel is putting on http://www.thaiticketmajor.com/concert/ ... rt_eng.php
Hope that had cleared this up for you all
