Dimseng/dimsong/ something or other

On the usual Renong runs our taxi driver often stops to get some delicious.. well.. I'm buggered if I know what they are. So this is where I need your help. I think they're called dimseng or dimsong or something like that. They're like little parcels (almost a pasta-texture to the outside layer) with a meat of some kind inside with a hint of sweetness there (don't say it) and it's bloody delicious.

Two questions:-
1. What's the proper name?
2. Where would the best ones in Hua Hin be?

PS no naming your own restaurant/bar/etc please!

There is a restaurant at the Village Market mall that seems to specialize in these little "packages" of steamed things and there are apparently many different kinds. . .precisely why I dont much like them myself. I hate biting into something like that and finding a "surprise" (Like those lovely looking Thai buns with a bean filling or even worse, taro filling.) I suppose if you got used to dim sum and knew what to order it might be a great eating experience, but I have yet to do so.

The small wet ones are dim sum .The more dumpling like ones are sarapao . This area is famous for them and they are as addictive as twiglets or pringles . Buuurrrpppp!!!!

Dim Sum restaurants are around here in California. Carts filled with many varieties are wheeled through the restaurant, up to your table, and the ladies show you there many types.

Plates are small and good price.

I've had the street vendor ones in Thailand, as well as the more prepackaged ones in the gas stations, and all very tasty.

Dim Sum is Cantonese and means "little heart". The mandarin word for them in Dien Xin.

We go for Dim Sum at a restaurant in the Market Village. Great for a lunchtime snack. I am not sure what it is called but it is a couple of doors along from the MK Restaurant.

if you are ever near a Tibetan restaurant try Momo's ... they are a bit like Dim Sum and yummy.

Theres a good Tibetan place in Amsterdam...think the one in London off Liecester Sq is closed now?

Yup, dimsum. Now widely available in Chinese restaurants in the UK as starters. Never found any as good as the 'Cake Lady' though. Many folks on here will remember her. Used to go round the bars on a bike at night selling her goodies, which included pizza. Worked so hard, and was killed on Petkasem on her way home one sad night. Word on the Soi was that it was a deliberate hit. Sadly missed.
