I suspect a good bit of the chit-chat on various topics is just "filler," intended to help the user hit the "30" mark so as to get in the Night Crawler section. . . it makes for seemingly endless chains of essentially irrelevant chit-chat. . . the useful or interesting becomes lost in the irrelevancies and asides.

I think I understand the general idea of requiring 30, but might not a better approach be to require, say, ten, or even six, "substantive" inserts but require that they be spread out over at least, say, three or four weeks.. . ?

Why do it then? Surely it is not that difficult to come up with something constructive?
