We are a family arriving in HH in almost 3 weeks for our 2nd visit. We would like to visit a pinapple farm, would that be possible, and how?
We would also like to see the Dolphins at Dolphin Bay, what ways are there to do that? We are thinking of going on a boat trip with HH cruises to the mangroves and Pranburi river, will we pass the dolphins then?
Thanks for any replies..
Linda

Hello Linda,
Not too sure about the dolphins, perhaps Barry can give you more info. about available trips in that area.
We do, however, live in the middle of a lot of pineapple fields. Most of the farmers in this area either sell their pineapples to a middle-man or directly to Dole Thailand - who have a huge factory about 30kms west of Hua Hin.
I'm not sure what you want to see, but if you hire a car and travel west from Hua Hin, you'll see signs for the Pala U Waterfall. Keep your eyes peeled in that area and you're sure to see some pineapple fields. If find yourselves at the Dole (pronounced Done by the Thais) factory, you might be able to see the canning process.
Have a nice second trip.

Hi Linda
I'm afraid you won't see the dolphins on the eco river trip - but there is other wonderful wildlife there - beautiful birds (over 30 species at the last count) and 3 metre long monitor lizards.
On our sea cruise down to Monkey Island/Kao Sam Roi Yod National Park, there's about a 50/50 chance of seeing the dolphins (including the pink bottle-nosed variety) and when we do they often come pretty close to the boat.
When we pick up our guests, we drive through the Pak Nam Pran pineapple farming area on the way to our pier. We also stop to look at a farm if guests wish to do so.
Everybody is served pineapple from a local farm on all our tours as part of the inclusive package.
If you would like any more information, please let me know.

One of the gents living here at our condo visits the Dole plant on a regular basis because he loves pineapple juice and buys it by the case. So they are at least somewhat visitor friendly.Vital Spark wrote:Hello Linda,

Beware of unprovoked comments!
I think I know where you mean and I've always thought it was an old service/petrol area that's now closed down.sandman67 wrote:when I go on a Ranong trip I pass a factory whose reception booth is a massive painted concrete pinapple....
quite trippy.....
Is that the Dole factory?
If it's the same place, the Dole factory would appear to be some way further south. There's a huge sign in Thai and English running along the wall outside the factory. "Dole Canning" or something like that.
