What a charming way you both have when talking about women. A real couple of old school gents, both of you.

Semi compliments to you Mr. Buffalo Bill. I tried your fine establishment a few times during January on the advise of 'Steve', your lovestruck chef. Hi Steve, how is 'Tip'? I had no complaints regards any of the meals I had there or the service which I found second to none. Very friendly and efficient. My only gripe was I found the food a tad overpriced for Thailand. Apart from that I reckon you have a very good future business. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

hhfarang (you said) Sorry Bill, just being honest and don't worry, I'm not looking for a free meal, but your new place looks like another one designed tourists rather than repeat local business. Maybe you can prove me wrong during the coming off season.
You don’t have to say sorry to me after dissing my restaurant over the internet for millions of people to read about, but I suppose that is my lookout for advertising on the internet in the first place. You said that my restaurant is designed for tourists and not repeat local business, sorry I don’t understand!!! And prove me wrong, I’ve been here for 12 years son.

hhsimon (you said) and a mandatory 10% service charge.
Hope you give it to the wait staff, Bill. Don't buffalo us now.
Again, I don’t understand, what you are implying?
Who do you think gets the service charge???

Richard (you said) Maybe bars and restaurants should lower their prices during off season to ensure capturing local residents.
Has anyone checked out or wrote about our beer and spirits prices?? NO. Of course not, just the usual harping on about the prices of our menu and imported Cod, as I said before in an earlier post, this fish comes to us frozen all the way from Norway. I think most of the people that are grouching about the Cod and Chips (not frozen chips by the way) must have lived right by the coast in the UK or the fish and chip shop. They bought there fresh Cod from at around ₤6.50p a pop (last time I was back in the UK in April) and I paid extra for pickled onion Tatar sauce and a gherkin which comes as part of the meal at The Buffalo Tavern.

Nevets. (You said) The message I'm getting from this thread is avoid the fish & Chips at all costs.
Any of the grouchers can come and try this while I am there and tell me that the fish and chips are that bad.
It’s very easy for people to hide behind forum names and bad mouth respectable places. Our restaurant has none of the usual trappings found around town. We have a very clean kitchen (come take a look) the toilets are the cleanest in town and the good service our staff give is why we charge service charge to our customers. When I personally have a valid complaint (and I occasionally do but I also have a bit more understanding because of having a business here) when at a restaurant I ask to speak to the manager/owner and tell them personally, not walk away and whinge on a local forum. (Not once has anyone said I was there). I live on the premises, ask for me personally, I DON’T BITE. If your complaint wasn’t brought to my attention I can’t rectify things. Can I?
Rant over.

Bill

Been many times to your place and you are there 99% of the time and always came over for a chat

never tried the fish and chips though as most of my fish and chips days came in from the North sea and straight onto the plate or newspaper in Hull or Halifax or Harry Ramsdens in Leeds

I've always felt if you don't like it seek out the boss and tell him

I'll be down again soon for the ribs soon. I need fattening up so her indoors tells me!!!!!

Dont worry, you have many supporters AND all eating places are subject to criticism

Cheers

I must say I admire any restaurateur who has the guts to stick his neck out among us here at the net. We all are fully
capable of giving the businessman advise and tell him how to run his business and what he is doing wrong.

Not infrequently do I eat at Buffalo Bill's only because I think I do get value for my currency. Its has been so ever since
there was the Fisherman's Wharf. I even wrote a short review of the second time I ate there back in 2004.
Of course the prices are not the same anymore, but the food still is just as good. Here goes:

PostPosted: Sun Apr 04, 2004 4:36 pm Post subject: Chowdown in Fisherman's Warf
.
After having been to best sauna in HH and having pleasantly been surprised by
Chang draft beer in Grand Sport I visited with some friends The Fisherman's
Warf on the corner of Chomsin and Naresdamri roads.

FW is an elegant place and the decor is indicative of the quality of the food.
Tried Maryland Crab Cakes (140 B), Prawns Bil-Bil (140 B) and
Buffalo Bill's Southern BBQ Ribs (3 pcs, 100 B) as starters. They all were damn good.
Particularly the ribs were exceptionally good. Tender, juicy meat, perfectly spiced
falling off the bone. Mm-mmm-mmmmm Good!
And in my never-ending quest of trying to locate the best Fish n' Chips this side of
Channel Islands I tried them at FW. I am quite impressed. At 280 B a plate this was no cheapo.
But it was really, really good. Just as good as the old Greek in St.Helier makes.

Halleluja, bro, I'll eat there again.

Bill, that was me, not Nevets. All that I was saying is that the Fish & Chips seem to be following a common thread. When I pop in during May, I believe I would be foolish to try them. I will be hoping for a pleasant experience - why take the chance?

Incidentally, I was defending you in the same post.

I've held my tongue on this subject for a couple of reasons, but I'd just like to give my personal opinion on this.

I've eaten in all of Bill's establishments over the course of the 6 years I've been here. Not only can I say I've never had a bad meal in any of them, I can also say I've never even had an indifferent one. The food has always been excellent. Well worth the money. The staff have always been friendly, as have the proprietors.

Do you still do breakfasts, Bill? For whatever my opinion's worth, they were the best fry-ups in town. Very, very good & enough to fill anyone. :thumb:

I really don't understand what all the moaning is about, as I would find it hard to fill the back of a postage stamp with any gripes with Bill's places (I've only been to the new one once, but my experience simply confirmed that the standards are still as high as ever). Mind you, the mood of the board as a whole at the moment seems to be a whingey, critical one - is it a full moon or something?

Whingey???

I thought people were basing their postings on experiences and a few on opinions

If all postings were positive glowing comments nobody would be getting a true picture
