eating experiences

Post by fugster »

visited Hua Hin for the 2nd time over christmas- luv the place!!
in no particular order:
Papa Johns: still excellent food- beef in cognac sauce :P lovely new restaraunt- a bit out of the way and taxis are hit and miss- make sure you can get home, we were waiting ages until Papa John come and took my family into town- top bloke and top food.
bams bams- cheap as chips but nothing special.
sara janes- first time ordered panang curry with rice- 20 minutes between rice arriving and then the curry. family enjoyed their food so decided to give it a 2nd try. food arived together and was delicious.
jasmines- absolute quality
nesadarami ? (oposite jasmine) lovely.
colins fish bar (near Chinese temple side of hilton beach) best fish and chips ever!!
mini farm- worth the effort to get there.
catalina- bland mexican but plenty
crawfords- nice but pricey for what you get.
little italians next to coffee world opposite police station- tremendous pasta.
mp guest house- liitle street up from the hilton- best scrambled eggs with coffee for 30 baht- massive bowl of musli and fresh fruit for 50 baht.
Indian- marahaja?? top food but watch out they pour you water when you arrive then charge you- its not the price but the practice that p"£$£D me off, also the only place i ate that charged a service fee. i always tip 20% but not here due to this.
siam (next to sara janes) nice food but service iffy if its busy.
left the best till last although i should not tell you
go to the beach between hilton and sofitel, turn left at the beach entrance, 50yds to the beach shack with the red and white poles (approx 4 lads will offer you sunbeds)
cashew chicken or hot fried sauce with prawns, i swear you will not have better anywhere in the world.
enjoy Hua hin, it is a wonderful place although i can see it getting alot busy. i have been to loads of places in thailand with my family- they all have the plus points but hua hin has everything you need and is extremely chilled out

Good to hear you enjoyed the food Fugster, especially your comment on MP Guest House. Its on soi Kanjanomai, been there years and was always good value. But next time get down to the Night Market for the omelettes and noodle soup at the stalls. Please don't stick to the places that look nice!
