A positive thread about relationships
With all the ,sadly true in in most cases, stories about farangs getting burned by Thai girls I am surprised anyone goes near them .
For a change lets hear from the people out there who have wonderful ,loving relationships that are working .That have not been ripped off or lied to .
I love Thailand and the vast majority of the people thats why I live here .There is good and bad in every nation .Lets hear about the good for a change .

I count myself lucky
After trawling BK and HH for some months I settled for a simple Thai girl from Khon Kaen
Ups and downs but that's always been my case across the globe. Guess I'm difficult to live with!!!
Now in my old age (body not brain!) I need companionship and I've got it
Lay it on the line right up front
You are not a millionaire
You have family commitments in your country. Whether kids or parents
Your family is as important to you as hers is to her
OK. Easy to say if you do not have kids here. Then it becomes more complex
But I often reflect how it would be for me in good old blighty and it cheers me up no end
We should all count our blessings

It’s none of my business what people say and think of me. I am what I am and do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. It makes life so much easier.

- Location: California is now in the past hello Thailand!!
I met my wife here in the states, she's a widower from a Thai man. |Even though she's been here a while, she's very much still Thai (possible here in So California where ethnic communities are such that people need never learn english).
She works 2 jobs, and goes to school. She's very protective of me, and when one brother asks for money from Thailand (rare but at times) she pays from her money. She also pays more than her share of community bills.
I'm not rich, and have 2 kids (her none) and she's respectful and understanding about them.
My house, and business, are signed as mine before marriage, she insisted.
When in Thailand her family does not expect us to pay all, they contribute (even the brother that borrows occasionally) (Dad is a ex MIB
)
OK, these are financial, but it seems that is the main reason most break up.
Relationshipwise is great also, I don't kiss and tell, but she's a best friend also and no arguments after 5 years.
As I tell friends
She's younger than me
She's prettier (lot's!) than me
She's financially as well off as me
She's got her citizen card here
So she really must love me
All in all a great relationship

Known Mrs.T since '92
Been together since '97
Married in UK in '99
Two great sons.
Still a happy family despite all of life's tribulations.
Had a minor worry some 5 yrs ago.
Money went missing gradually over 1 year - in total about GBP 1,000
I was about to confront her just before my birthday - glad I didn't - got a cracking genuine Breitling wristwatch - worth just over GBP 1000
Something I had 'wished' for several years earlier.
Life's still good -I wish I had done it 10 years earlier

Met my Mrs 6 odd years ago whilst on holiday in Samui.
Got married a couple of years later in the uk.
Will have been married 4 years this October.
We've got a beautiful son, who'll be 3 this year, always entertaining!
Never been happier than this, never really argue, weird or what?
Down side:
My wife loves England too much, last year in LOS, 10 days into our 2 week holiday, she wanted to go home!
Love the story about the watch Terry, brilliant!
Mrs C does similar things, when we arrived back from our hols last year, she presented me with nearly 10,000 baht & £350 worth of travellers cheques that she'd skimmed from me.
There's me thinking we've spent too much money, but she's already saving for next year with this years holiday money, nice one!

You have to respect a woman who landed a 62lb carp the first day she held a rod in her hands after all

A Positive Thread about Relationships
Yes agreed 'Hulltoon' its good to hear about the happy ones, and I know there are loads. Dear old Eric (late of ChaAm) was very philosophical when his first wife left, after a good few years - he said he was thankful for the time they had together. It was good to see him settle down with a new lady during what turned out to be the short time he had left.

After the problems I have been going through I am really delighted to learn that I am in the minority, I have always believed that to be the case.
Thai women, like most women from around the world, and in fact most people from around the world are basically sound and not out to con people, this thread has restored my faith in humanity.
I'm sure Mrs Right is out there somewhere, answers on a postcard please :)

Don’t forget that a large number of Thais, particularly from rural areas are still great believers in the Buddhist faith.
My partner has often explained to me the fate of people whose lifestyle inflicts harm on others, such as ripping off your farang husband.
Basically this means that depending on your offense, you will be re-incarnated anywhere between the lower orders of the animal kingdom and hell, with some kind of nasty ghost in between!

I've been married over 5 years to my Thai wife, I could count the number of arguments we've had on one hand (mostly my fault). Her family have helped out over the years, way and beyond the call of duty.
I'm so happy that I bought a "small" house for her the other week.
Onlyme.
PS. We live in it.

Positive relationships
O.K., this thread seems to be drying up.......suppose it's easier to get riled up about something than it is to report satisfying happiness....
We'll do our part by announcing October 8 as our TWENTIETH anniversary.
I'm sure lot's of you can top that......let's hear from you.
