Information About Hua Hin.

Post by australian_farang »

I would just like to ask a few questions about hua hin. First of all whats the bars like ? ,i know its no Pattaya or even Phuket in the bars scene but is it enough to satisfy say for 6 nights. How much is it to bar fine? , how much is the going rate ST AND LT?.

Also is there much to do during the day and can anyone recommend a good value hote in the range of 1,000 to 2,000 baht.

Any help will be appreciated, i am tossing up between Koh Chang and Hua Hin at the moment. Thanks,
Australian Farang.

australian_farang,

Can I also suggest you read http://www.huahinafterdark.com/bars.htm. There is bit more information that wouldn't generally be posted on the open forum at the bottom of that page. However, this is only a guide, and there is no guarantee that things will not have changed; but TIT, and things change quite randomly everywhere.

af (if I may be so informal!),
Hua Hin has a better bar scene than Koh Chang in terms of numbers of bars (and therefore girls as well), but KC is a great place for a relaxing holiday. You might be pushed getting accommodation there this time of year though, although there is plenty in your price range. The big advantages HH has over KC is the journey and the compact bar area, which is quite spread out on KC. There are also a lot more and better restaurants in HH and I think prices are higher on KC generally because it is an island. In my opinion though the beaches are nicer on KC and you can find places to stay right on the beach, and there was no sign of the umbrellas and chairs you find near the Hilton in HH. Still a lot of hawkers though...
Whichever you choose is a great holiday destination but from your enquiry I think you might prefer Hua Hin.

If you are used to the Pattaya scene you might find HuaHin hard to handle for 6 days. I moved there from Pattaya and ran a bar or two for a while. Its a totally different scene and can feel pretty dead during the daytime until you adjust to the pace of life there. But give it a try - and as a female ex bar owner I would say chill out. Don't expect the girls in Huahin to be the same as Pattaya. They demand and deserve more respect. Go there to enjoy yourself without aiming for too many notches and you should be OK.

I had 6 days in Hua Hin in November and had a great time. All the bars are in close proximity and there were plenty of girls. Not all are beautiful but they were very friendly and provided great service.

Bar fine is 300

I think the going rate for a night is 1000 - 1500. If you find a nice girl pay her more!

The girls in HH are very faithful ... if you go with a girl from a bar dont expect to go with any of her friends for the rest of the week. And if you promise to go with a girl and dont come back to the bar, none of them will go with you!

I go to Hua Hin most years on holiday and the large part of my two week break there in November. I went to Koh Chang for a couple of days. To me there is no comparison, HH is miles better than Koh Chang.

Koh Chang does have nice beaches but the best looking girls were all Farang. Loads of nice back packers etc. The bar area I visited was small. There are more bars and greater choice in HH.

For me your choice is a no brainer.

The distance to Koh Chang is a bit of a killer as well.

I think you guys have convinced me enough, Hua Hin it is. Just one more question, scooter hire ? is it available and if so how much is the going rate per day. Thanks,
