These two girls are abiding by the rules, but can see something that the so-called educated people who run the country can't. Wouldn't it be rather nice if the law-makers had the same mindset as two lower-educated law-abiding lasses.
& if this philosophy was applied everywhere, wouldn't the world be a much better place

Well, I'm gobsmacked. Despite the best efforts of my wife and I to find any local establishment willing to sell some beer, they've all come to no avail. Will NO-ONE sell me a beer?

I know of a restaurant serving beer today, Lomu (same one as last week), but I don't think they'll sell it for home consumption. I saw them serving a Thai girl a Singha in a milkshake cup this morning. I don't want to get them in trouble though.

I've just come back from a well known entertainment venue. Openly serving beer etc (which is why I stayed). Not a small Thai bar but a large concern. Wouldn't be right to disclose the name but has a large swimming pool, gym and sauna. A very 'sporty' villa!!!
I also found somewhere selling beer openly...hic! But like every good alcoholic I have my own stash of 10 x large sangsoms, 30 X coke zero (well you don't want to become a fatty do you) and the obligatory dripping baguette. Happy new year to you all..............
The principle being Thai venues are allowed to get away with it and the major clamp downs and enforcement are against farang ones. I took this weekend out of Hua Hin, went to a less touristy area and got happily lashed up with the locals who all went to vote that same day!

i just prefer to go with the flow & having lived in several countries around the world, have found on numerous occasions certain rules & regs are always stacked against the 'farang' in many shapes & forms.
its sometimes just best to accept the predujice because in the long run i doubt you will change the reasoning behind it, no matter how much you challenge it.

I did enjoy reading the report in todays BKK post about all the people that got arrested for tearing their ballot papers, whether intentional or not half of them were pissed at the time they voted.
Probably explains the outcome too.

The Thai boss waddles out and said 'your not Thai and cannot vote so I can sell you liquor'. I even had pleas from local Thais for me to sell them some of my liquor
All this twaddle about it being biased towards farang is based on small minded people with farang chips on their shoulders airing their biased views

In the tourist zones it most certainly is from what I saw in CM and what the others are saying.
Khon Kaen isn't exactly a tourist zone and probably has a different style of enforcement (being an Isaan zone).
True........ KK has few tourists but a lot of expats
True.........Isaan districts have a different set of rules but usually tend to be laxer than other parts of Thailand. So why a heavy clampdown on the Thais in KK?
Question? Why hit the tourist areas? when they can scuttle back to their hotel and imbibe. Most tourists now in HH are families and not bar dwellers. Expats know the game and know where to go for a sherbert or three
It all goes back to my previous posting about narrow minded farang thinking. We are here because we all love the place and we think it's better than where we have come from. Can we not integrate and accept their logic? If not a plane is not far away and back to so called 'western civilisation'
Abide by the law, take a low profile and be guided by the Thais. They know best
