I remember the first time I saw it, I was still staring at the screen long after the titles had finished, powerful film, one hard b'stard!

Didn't know there was a follow up, I'll have a look for that.

Cheers

I notice that Chelsea's choice is a bit of pining for the Motherland. You should check out Essex Boys and Scrubbers which was a female version of Scum but just as powerful and more shocking. I have seen all but one of your list and agree.

For those of you who prefer British movies in general then this is the site for you:

I managed to get a copy but it is in Hindi which surprised me as it was made by Film Four.

Looks good though. I am on the hunt for subtitles at the moment.

Guess, I used to have a copy on VHS with English sub-titles but I’m afraid I don’t have it anymore. I know at one time you could buy it in Europe in an international version; I’ll have a look around as I wouldn’t mind seeing it again myself.

I've made a point of watching some of these recommended movies, namely:

Wyatt Earp
Good old western though a bit on the long side, I prefer Tombstone, Val Kilmer's Doc Holliday was outstanding.

Enemy at the gates
All time classic war flick.

Essex Boys
English gangster movie with Sean Bean as the bad boy, I actually recognise most of the locations too

Long Good Friday
Classic stuff and a great speech by Bob Hoskins going down the Thames.

Smokey and the bandit
Remember this one from when I was a kid, its just as good today (2 and 3 were crap).

And some others I've seen recently:

American Gangster
Based on a true story about the first non Italian Harlem "boss" in the 70's, Denzel does a good job playing drug kingpin Frank Lucas.

Shallow Grave
I'd forgotten about this one until I watched it again, great stuff.

3.10 to Yuma
If you're a western fan like me this one wont disappoint, a few good sub plots too and Russel Crowe makes a great villain.

Resident Evil Extinction
All I can say about this movie is .... Milla Jojovich

Fearless
This is a must see for martial arts fans, some amazing moves by the Wu Shu master Jet Li.

The Kingdom
Arab terrorists, American heroes, seen it all before.

I watched American Gangster at the Weekend.

Its a true story about Frank Lucas (Denzil Washington) who during the early 70s was the most powerful drug dealer in New York, amassing a $50million fortune selling pure heroin imported directly from Vietnam at the time of the war.

Absolutely brilliant film. I would imagine Oscar winning.

A few of the scenes are in Bangkok too.
