Hin Naam Sai Suay Fire, all ok

Post by bahtandsold »

Was by there just as they were putting out the fire earlier today - Thai fired dept looked like they did a great quick job. Apparently no one hurt, thankfully. Spy club (below the lobby and entrance) looked like the starter as it was gutted. In the lobby itself, alot of water from hoses but no fire damage. Facade on the outside front of the main lobby building had some fire damage. All other buildings ok.

fire trap

Post by Chas »

I just drove by there ( Wed night) and never noticed a thing!

Thank God it was not Saturday night around midnight.

As I said in an earlier thread on night clubs, that place (Spy) is a fire trap! That I could see, there was only the one way out in front .. the way you go in. The place often gets so packed with people you just can not move.

I remember sitting there one time way over on the left hand side of the stage and wondering how I would get out if something ever happened. ( I decided that there must be a backstage exit and my plan was to head for the stage and NOT to the only exit through 500 people.)

I wonder that there are not some kind of inspections for public places like this with regard to fire safety and emergency evacuation.

Some pics (quality not great - Apple iPhone photos;)

Spy club (below lobby area) gutted

'new' entrance to Spy club created by fire...

Noodle vendor, quick on the spot, brisk fire-watching trade

Lobby ok but filled with water from hoses - upstairs Karaoke room looked damaged
(although this fleeing lil devil looks suspicious, officially not a suspect;)

Footnote - as stated above, this could've been much worse...
Kudos to the HH Fire Dept for arriving so quickly. :thumb:

Nice pics

Very nice pics of the fire etc! Thanks for posting them.

I did notice all the damage when I drove by today. Much more extensive than I first thought. Looks totally burned out.

Ahhh Thank you very much Rider for reminding me of that!

Occasional Partying and letting it all out once in a while is way OK! But the stuff I'd done during my early years @ STF Univ. like go out every Night of the week including weekends and living life like Britney Spears former Husband Kevin Federline (a. k. a. K Fed) is not really healthy and can't do do it no more!!!!

first of all.. it's called "Style" Club, not "Spy"...
Lobby Floor and Karaoke Floor have no problems at all, nothing damaged there, only at the Style Club, which was anyway renovating!!!

Style Club was closed for 1 week, they're doing everything new there, in my opinion they did their fire by themself (insurance).. just an opinion..

I used to be Singer there for a half year, I know what kind of guy that owner is ;)

'Style' - 'Spy' mais pen rais.

Yes, lobby looked ok as did the karaoke, just had alot of water sprayed all over. Prob already back to 'normal'. BTW, heard the restaurant is the temp 'new' mostly (c)rap club. Now, what's the name of that restaurant again...? (ThaiSpy -er 'ThaiStyle', forgive me, will try to be more cautious of posting incorrect names)

"Sapai"

Post by Chas »

Interestingly enough, and there may be some reason for this, the four most popular clubs in town for the teen/ dancing/drinking crowd start with "S" You have Style, Spin, Spy and Star (planet) I think the Hilton bar has a name too but I don't know it off hand.

When I was teaching and around students all the time, they didn't use the club name anyway. . .ever! It was always "Bai Hin Nam" or "Bai Hilton, chai mai?

And with a Thai accent, "sapai" and "satai"sound very alike.

I always get a kick out of hearing a Thai person try to order "Sprite" or a "Spy" wine cooler as they practically have to bring out the bottle for a visual aid. These words are pronounced exactly the same in Thai. . ."sapai"
