Could anyone tell me the cost of all the innoculations that I would need to get prior to coming to Hua Hin to live. Over here in the UK I have been quoted over a £100.00 and was wondering if I could get them once I come to Hua Hin at a much lesser cost.
Many Thanks....
Why are you paying for your injections if you live in the UK? All of the usual injections for Thailand are available on the NHS. The only thing I can think of is that you've fallen in to the trap that I almost fell in to a couple of years ago.
Our GP surgery stopped doing assessments, and advised that I would have to go to MASTA. I assumed that they meant go to MASTA for the whole deal. I was wrong, all that I had to do was obtain a travel report from MASTA (available on-line for about 4 Pound - 1 report covers the whole family). I took that to my GP's surgery, and they gave me the injections that I needed.
The only injections that I've paid for are Rabies and Japanese Enciphalitis (spelling?). I only needed those because I was going to be spending a few weeks in rural NE Thailand.
The most expensive thing you might have to pay for when visiting Hua Hin is Malaria Tablets, but the last few MASTA reports I've had didn't state that they were necessary for Hua Hin.
Just re-read your post, and missed the bit about going to Thailand to live. Even so, the holiday injections last a fair time so holiday, or living - injections should be the same.
No innoculations are required for Hua Hin.
By the way, it is up to individual GPs whether they charge for travel jabs , which they are entitled to do. Some more generous GPs regard it as preventative medicine and thus do not charge but these are getting few and far between.
There are no required vaccinations for Hua Hin, however there are several that are recommended. Standard ones, polio, tetnus, typhoid but also the hepititus group, especially B. It is prevellent in Asia.
I had the course of 3 injections in Hua Hin (lasts for 10 years) and each jab cost me about 700 baht.
With regard to rabies and malaria, rabies you only need the vaccination if you going to be further away than 24 hours (I think) to a hospital and malaria, again if you are up country.
