Love the new av, JD. Used to have the hugest crush on Suggs as a teenager! :thumb:
Sorry, just realised. I forgot to say something at the end of that post...

Ok, that's done.

I had never met any of the team until my recent visit. I too had a completely wrong picture of each of them - however, they were all great people. It was a pleasure.

Thanks Dawn

Dawn I agree that this forum is a pretty nice one. Told Lev as much and I appreciate that things generally remain calm and respectful except for the occasional odd flareup. I have found the community here a friendly and helpful one. Probably why that particular post irked me so.. .though I do understand the context better now thanks to everyone's help. (I can see it being part of a VERY funny skit with MP !)

Of course actually knowing the other poster(s) in person helps to put whatever they say into context. You know farang. I dont. That post had no context and I can not claim to have seen and memorized every Monty Python skit (Though I had a couple friends in the past who DID and could do them word for word ad nauseum!!)

JW thanks so much for the invite! I will take you up on it though not this weekend when I am off to the Big Mango for a day or two.

chas quoted 'people who complain about to much pc in this world are those never affected by it'
my first response to that statement is, as i live in the uk, i am severely affected by pc day in & day out & to be quite honest i am fed up with the constant whining of the so say minority groups.
i think thats the same story developing for the vast majority of citizens of the uk & the world as a whole & probably the main reason that migration from the uk, as an example, has hit a record high.
it doesn't matter what nationality, sexual persuasion, religion, colour, or creed you are, you are still an individual & you have the choice & the chance to make your mark.
it seems to many groups, & i am talking about gays & ethnic minorities in general, seem to thrive by jumping on the pc bandwagon.
society in general has become more tolerant, but only to a point. to dictate in an open society against the majority about what should & can be said or done will only alienate those minority groups further.
if people become offended & demand an apology for a post made in jest, which is how i saw it, then the future is quite bleak.
do we need censorship on such a futile topic?
unfortunately i won't be there for the next hhad bash but when i am back in hh at the end of nov/or early dec i will be happy to meet up & socialise with y'all, whatever colour, creed or sexual persuasion you are.

have fun

No comment. Speaks for itself I'd say.

Here I've virtually always been treated with the utmost respect (apart from the odd troll). On the others I've been called every name imaginable. I've been everything from a militant feminist, to a misandrist, to (yesterday) an "ugly old slapper" (this by someone who has actually met me!). I've been told my husband should be neutered so as not to produce any offspring with my genes, as well.
If I took every insult seriously, I'd never post again. As it is, I win a lot of brownie points by laughing it off & turning the tables humorously on my attacker. That's just my personal take on participating in internet fora if you're a minority group.

Dawn, if you are an example of "ugly old slapper" then we could do with a few more like you, with your balanced, and always consructive, point of view. You may like to know that you did score an indirect kudo in the Bangkok Post as well.
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!

If you really didn't want to know the answer, why the hell did you ask me the question!!!
