Second hand books

Post by Randy Cornhole »

Any good second hand book shops in Hua Hin? The one I used to go to seems to have closed, and I consume the buggers like no one's business. Always non fiction, I love a good biography.... :D

Randy, the short unhelpful answer is probably 'no', but see the book exchange/sale thread also in this section. Of course, nothing seems to have happened so far... :o

Randy,

Though I am reluctant to send this message as it will appear with a crappy bio hazard avator, I will try to help you out.

I forget the name of the bar as I've not been down that area for a while but it's the bar which sits on the end of the Karaoke strip near the Hilton. They have a cabinet full of books which, if you sit and have a drink, I'm sure they will happily lend you a few books. You may even want to take some of your old books in as a "deposit" as such.

Brains functioning now....... I think it's Billy's Bar.

Hope you're enjoying your time back Randy

I'm still trying to find 5 minutes to sort through which books I want to exchange & which I'm only prepared to lend. Once I do, I'll post a list (well, 2 actually) & hopefully others will follow suit. Or maybe someone else could start it off...

We always bring a few books to read when we travel. Mine in English, hubby's in Swedish. Will be glad to leave those for anyone who would like to have them. If I thought I would have room in the baggage I would bring a few, but that is not likely to happen- :D

I want to find a good place to buy DVDs, but only ones that are good quality because it is so crazy when the end does not play right. Where is the best place in Hau Hin?

Thank you

Try Top Marks hotel on Poonsuk, good selection of books sold second hand by Malee who runs the cafe bit
Otherwise come along to one of HHAD bookswaps. Not sure when next one is, last one about 6 weeks ago

I think Victoria's has a small book swapping library where you bring one and take one, for free I think.

Billys Bar always had a few shelves full of mainly novels. Just try to remember to return them or take some in to swop. Bar owners do appreciate a more up to date selection on their shelves, as do their customers

Book Exchange

Post by DenisT »

I saw a book exchange shop in the Plaza just over the main traffic lights when heading north on Petchkasem. If you know where the TOT Office is the Plaza is next to it on the corner of Petchkasem. The plaza aslo has a computer program shop and a dvd shop plus restaurents and tailors, etc.
