A lot of Aussies fly to/from Thailand via Singapore due to costs/availability with direct flights from downunder, so I imagine it will limit their options.

Sorry, I obviously didn’t read the article carefully enough and thought they were operating out of Singapore and didn’t realise that they had some services directly to/from BKK.

I'd imagine a fair few are (or were) using are simply the service for (budget) direct flights to Singapore (from Thailand) - but you're excused DB

According to this part of the report, international flights in and out of Oz are continuing:thecolonel wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 12:23 pm DB my mate recently flew Brisbane /Bkk on jetstar and he was hoping to do it again next March... no longer.
"Jetstar Airways’ international services in and out of Australia will also remain unchanged."
Seems it's only the Singapore hub affected.

An interesting development....
Manchester Airport has announced a new direct route to Bangkok in Thailand - the first airport outside of London to do so.
Norse Atlantic Airways will launch the flights in November this year, running a weekly service until March. Tickets have gone on sale today, July 3, for the new route which will operate on a Boeing 787-9. Return tickets start from £489.

According to this article, the flights are even cheaper although it doesn’t include any food or stowed luggage - but it will appeal to those looking for low cost direct flights.

Yes, that is more what I was expecting. Certainly when mentioned here a few months ago, that is what we were told to expect. £489 was a bit of a shock.

Just booked my usual Dec-June rtn flight with Emirates on the A380 outa MAN. Nigh on identical price to last yr's flight..£1029 (less my air-miles weighed in against this price) with 2+ bit hrs stop over each way & 30kg luggage allowance (I'm bringing a mountain bike back within that allowance..[max size of bag/box that Emirates will include as your baggage allowance is 118 inches total LxWxDepth]..Also..At the moment Emirates are wanting £800 1-way MAN-BKK, where-as Etihad are doing it for £470..

I flew MAN-AUH - BKK-AUH -MAN with Etihad for about 6 consecutive years and the price never moved from just sub £500
But that was 6 to 10 years ago

You’ll find it’s a lot more now Colonel, no doubt double that price - it all started post Covid and it’s basically airlines profiteering because although aviation fuel is more expensive now than it was pre-2020, nowhere near double the cost. They claim they are recovering losses made as a result of Covid!!

Yes I almost posted that I was aware that those prices(Middle Eastern) are long gone..
Wishing Norse Atlantic Airlines all the best. With only one flight a week they're sure to be overbooked.
