Hi,
I recently moved to Cha-am and am hoping to get some information. (I realize this is HH forum, but there may be someone who knows about Cha-am.....)
I am a retired person, but I still pay for Thai Social security funds every month. As I moved to Cha-am, I need to change hospital from where I was. Before going to the Social security office, I thought it will be nice to know what my choices are.
Do you know which hospital that is covered by social security is good one? Maybe the one with English speaking staff?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Government run hospital in Cha-am
Re: Government run hospital in Cha-am
I live in Cha am (border Hua Hin) as well and with SS. By the SS office cha am I was given the choice between Phetchaburi Rajabhat University hospital and Hua Hin Hospital. The latter was closer for me.. Staff is ok, facilities 'governmental' and authentic, but they are renovating. They have a Special Medical Clinic for after hours and for some departments only with acceptable queues for a small contribution.
Have a look at both.
If not done already, register asap at SS office. Did you bring your medical file from previous hospital you were registered, if any?

I'm actually quite a fan of Hua Hin Hospital. Yes, it has limitations, but for a Government Hospital IMHO it is very good. Aside from the Special Medical Clinic that I use for my quarterly check-ups, there is the after hours clinic, and I believe, pound for pound, its the best medical facility in town.
I think you'll find Cha-Am is very limited in comparison.

As Big Boy has mentioned, the Government hospital in Cha Am is relatively basic (although better now than a few years ago), but I’m sure nowhere near as good as HH Hospital - don’t know about the one in Petchaburi but would imagine that’s also a step up from the one in Cha Am.
