The rain was steady but by Thai standards not extreme but the lightning was virtually non -stop for quite some time.

Absolute downpour in Soi 106 and probably the most ⚡ I've seen in such a short period of time, since I moved here (which is ten years ago now).

The MSN weather app says it's going to continue raining like this for at least the next three hours.

In Hin Lek Fai it was a downpour for 2 hours. It stopped at 8.30pm. My water gauge overflowed at 50mm. The lightning continued past 9.00pm when I fell asleep until 5.am.

It turned out to be quite a bit more substantial than I originally expected - looked like it was goring to be a moderate shower that turned into quite a prolonged and intense storm with the sky light up for a very long time.

Hin Lek Fai, yes I agree, rain steady and medium-heavy. And as GroveHill says the most continuous lightning I've seen here in 10 years.

The weird thing was I had the biggest flying termite I ever saw in my house during the storm (not after the rain stopped, which is normal), and one more outside before I turned off my lights to avoid them coming at the house. But this morning there isn't a single dead one on my terrace, or more weirdly not even in my pool.

Yes the continuous lightning was the remarkable feature and the thunder was intense too

This weather was forecast about a week ago to be fair to Thai weather men

Could be more today...

Yes, I was in Chonburi watching the FA Cup Semi-Final (fortunately we'd invested in seats covered by a roof). Rain stopped play for 45 minutes. The crazy football fans behind the (uncovered) goals from both teams kept singing and dancing throughout. Quite a surreal experience.

There was also quite a bit of lightning around, and some of it was going to ground quite close to the stadium. Beautiful to watch, but a bit close to home for those totally exposed.

Not the clearest photo, but the Chonburi ground staff trying to clear water from last night's pitch:

Last night there might have been a few termites where we live, but nothing to mention, whereas tonight they’re out in their tens of thousands - wings everywhere, so I’m sure it will require a good sweep tomorrow morning and a vacuum of the window sills. No rain today even though it looked fairly ominous mid afternoon.

In Hua Hin at around 2pm yest I have literally never seen the sky so black and angry to the West and south West. I thought here we go again

Whilst it technically rained it was a mere trace and after the black clouds had slowly turned to mid grey

Happens often

Hua Hin had the most rain in Thailand on Sat night apart from one particular place which I can't even pronounce!
