Indonesian Food

Post by HarryVardon »

Many years of my life were spent living in the Netherlands. Whilst living there I became addicted to Indonesian Food. Many of the dishes are absolutely delicious and very unique. Since moving to Thailand many years ago I have missed my Indonesian food. Despite Thailand being so close to Indonesia it does not seem to have many Indonesian restaurants. As far as I know, Hua Hin does not have any. There are a few restaurants that sell one or two Indonesian dishes (Say Cheese has Nasi Goreng and Saté, Loesje has Saté) but these are all I know. Can anyone help me with finding Indonesian Food anywhere else in the Hua Hin region? I am well aware that Dutch Indonesian Food is different than real Indonesian Food but either would be fine.

Yes, Indonesian food in the Netherlands is quite authentic. I used to go to a place in Tilburg every week for my fix over the six months I was working there. As far as Thailand goes with regard to Indonesian food, I haven't seen any, even in Bangkok. Even near the Indonesian embassy. So I suggest you make your own. I made some really nice beef kalio last week, I find the rendang is too dry. You can get most of the ingredients here, but candlenut and daun Salam (a kind of bay leaf) was kindly hand carried by my brother when he visited last month. I've seen candlenut online, but never ordered.
