I saw something at the lake today that I haven't seen for many months - there were 4 police officers patrolling the surrounding footpath.

They looked very closely at our dogs, until they saw the bags of dog waste tied to the wheelchair.

My understanding is that this structure will be a museum or "study centre" focusing on King Rama 9 and his involvement in the building of the Khao Tao Lake.

Sounds very plausible as the King had very strong links to Hua Hin.

Also very strong links to the lake. Obviously only looking from the outside at the moment, but the small(ish) rooms, mainly with glass walls do not look like either a museum or study centre yet.

Yes, not sure if the Thai translates directly to English but an education/learning centre/musuem about King Rama.

Translation? I've not been down there for a few days, and won't get there until the middle of next week at the earliest. Is there a sign in Thai?

No, it's what the Thai workers explained to a Thai person.

I'm without wheels at the moment, but did manage a trip to the lake this morning.

Still no clues as to what the mystery construction will be, but much progress since my last visit. A few lockable doors have appeared, safety railings are being put in place and floor tiling is progressing nicely. Still no signs of plumbing. In fact the only water into the carbuncle is via a blue garden hose at the front of the building.

I'm not long back from my Boxing Day walk. The mystery building still remains the mystery building, although it is looking very close to completion. I still see no evidence of plumbing on or off the building, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.

There was some real progress at the mysterious building on Khao Tao Lake yesterday. They have at last utilised the small platform built below the building, which I have always believed would be linked to any water system. Nothing has been connected, but there are now 2 (water?) tanks and 2 large buckets on the platform. Apologies, it wasn't easy to photograph everything.

Yes, that's the one. I'm just pleased to see they have at last turned to some sort of plumbing. For many months now, the construction has given the impression it had been completely forgotten. I guess they've left it until the final phase.

I'm no septic tank expert, but I think they need a drain field for the liquid overflow. Or, perhaps that's the type of tank where they'll connect a pipe and take the liquid a long way from the lake? If so, pipes from building to shore should become visible shortly I guess?
