^Xiaomi EVs are getting some good reviews but they're comparatively expensive compared with some of the competition.
I had a look around the dealerships a couple of weeks ago and I'm still going to go for an Atto 3 unless anything else better comes out soon.

Not certain that it’s coming to Thailand but the Geely Galaxy Starship 7 (I’m assured it’s a car not a spaceship) looks quite amazing

Have we said anything on here about how air conditioning effects charging distance on plug in EV's?

^We've had mentioned on here every possible reason not to buy an EV that you can possibly imagine!
The model I'm looking at has a stated range of over 400km and I haven't driven more than 200km in a day in the last five years.
My average daily driving distance when I'm in Hua Hin is around 40km.

Re Pete’s comments about driving range with the ac on, my PHEV had a stated range of 67km on a full charge, and on the few occasions where I’ve used the EV mode until it runs flat I think I used to get up to 65km so virtually no impact - I’ve never tried doing the same with the ac off to see whether it would go further than 67km? I think this is likely to be more of an issue in colder climates, although then again if it’s cold you probably wouldn’t need the ac on!!

That's correct, as we leave the dog in the car quite often, AC on 30 mins to 1.5 hrs, with car of full power, ready to drive. Uses 1-2% of battery.

As you say, may be more of a draw on heating elements in cold weather countries, but AC use, not worth mentioning.

Car fires, especially EVs, would be the least of my worries on their ferries.

In Norway, where they're a bit more progressive on electrification, they have this:

MF Ampere
The world’s first all-electric car ferry

Corvus ESS supplied to vessel and shore charging stations. Skipsrevyen’s “2014 Ship of the Year”. It is the world’s first electric-powered car ferry and generates zero emissions and minimum sound. The ferry was delivered in October 2014 and commercial operations began in May 2015. The advanced vessel operates on a 5.7km crossing in the Sognefjord between the villages of Lavik and Oppedal. It makes approximately 34 trips a day,

Another "have we talked about?...."

What is involved to install a socket on your house for an EV receptacle, existing regular 220v plug fixture already exists.

Does wiring need to be upgraded back to the circuit breaker box, and is installation costly?

Does what's needed come with the vehicle (plug and wire long enough and receptacle) or are they extra accessories?

You can “trickle” charge using a standard socket outlet providing it’s rated same as normal household sockets but it will take a long time to fully charge a BEV - my PHEV has I think a 16.6kwh battery and fully depleted takes about 6.1/2 hours to fully charge. Even smallish BEV’s like the ZS have just over 50kwh so you’re almost up to a full day to recharge.

You can have a 7kw charger installed as long as you have a 30 amp supply that will reduce the time by just over a half.

cars are normally supplied with suitable cables for recharging
