Changing the glass on a mobile phone

Post by Hahuahin »

More glass/screen repair and this time phone. Can anyone recommend one of the small shops at the top of Marked villa that is good and doesn't cost an arm and a leg in payment. Btw, it's an iPhone 7 yes, its old but it does the job for me which is mainly calling / messaging.

Thank you :)

If you manage to find one, check if they have one that is a matt finish as it's easier on the eyes, as compared to the clear transparent type.

In my experience they’re aren’t many of the stalls that actually do the repairs - they’ll give you a price and then take it to the guy who will repair it. Might be worth walking around and try to find one of the stalls that actually does the repairs rather than use a middleman/woman!!

I've used one called AJ a few times, I think its husband and wife or brother and sister. He will check and tell you the problem and cost. As you know the problem he will say come back in an hour or whatever.
Actually on the way there now myself to check the charging port on my Kindle but I don't hold out much hope, it looks like a sealed unit.

If the screen is cracked it's probably better to get a secondhand one. However if it's just a screen protector it's only a couple of hundred baht for a decent one. Most phone shops can do that. But look for the ones that actually have a machine that can cut the film to the exact size.

Update: Took my Kindle, they had a look and said the charging port is damaged, 300 Baht to fix, come back in 30 minutes. I went back and they apolgised as I didn't leave my number and it was more difficult than they thought and would cost 550 Baht so they didn't do it as they wanted my agreement. Happy to pay as mentally I had written it off and was expecting a few thousand for a new one.

Location is opposite Banana IT.

I'm not sure because the screen protector itself is glass or hard plastic, not only film :?
Will get down to Marked Villa tomorrow and try the shop Pagey recommend.

Update. Thankfully its only what I describe as "hard plastic" which is broken, btw tempered glass is most likely more correct description so I ordered from Lazada and will try to change it myself.
