Bumping up this thread because I believe we now are in need of a refrigerator serviceman. Still working fine but the plastic water tray in back has developed a large hole in what must be the hottest part, right over the center round black "thing" that is probably doing the cooling. The back of the unit, especially down at the bottom, is very hot to the touch. Seems abnormally hot. We have it pulled well out from the wall. As noted, it is working just fine. . .but the heat and the destruction of the water "tray" seem to indicate that something is off. We need someone to come out and take a look at it. Suggestions? Thanks in advance

I recently had a similar need for refrigerator repair. I used a company called SMT Electronics, phone 032-547155, and was quite pleased with their service and results. Looking at their invoice I see they also have a website, www.smtelectronics.co.th

Happy 10 years anniversary. Consider yourself lucky. Ten years ago household appliances were made to last only about six years.
Today, many household appliances, TVs, PCs, printers and other electronics (some say even cars) have built in a chip that will make them break down after a certain period of time, or for printers, after a certain number of copies.

We must keep the economy going.....

The microwave, electric hob, electric oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine in my house are at least 12 years old, used regularly for at least ten, and none have failed electrically. I've replaced a broken microwave door latch and a repairman to replace a washing machine motherboard circuit. Various European brands. My PC is probably 15-16 years old. Only my breadmaker crapped out (after around 6-8 years I think). And the 'chip of doom' thing is a modern fable.

I've never had a TV break on me, ever!
