Hi,
in a few months i will fly to Thailand and stay for at least 1 year.
I just registered with WISE for Money transfer from europe to thailand. If I make a local mobile phone contract or something else, do i have to open a thai bank account, or can I use the WISE account? Any experience?
If I have to open a thai bank account, do you have any recommendation? Can I open it online?
Many thanks in advance
VISA stay for one Year. Thai bank account necessary?

I doubt opening a Thai bank account is as simple as you make it sound. Almost certainly the procedure will involve some, if not all of the hoops mentioned here viewtopic.php?t=36433

If you mean, do you need to have a Thai bank account to be able to spend money here then I imagine you could get by without one, using credit/debit cards and cash but it wouldn't be as straightforward as doing things with a Thai bank account.xandocan1 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 5:50 pm Hi,

However, as BigBoy mentions, opening a Thai bank account can be quite tricky. For instance, some banks will only open a bank account for you if you have a long term visa.
What kind of visa are you planning to use, to live in Thailand for a year?

One would assume that if he’s coming for a year+ then it will be some form of long-term visa which should satisfy the bank’s requirements.

I will get the O-A VISA!

Do yourself a favor, get the O Visa instead of the O-A. O-A requires health insurance, O visa does not. Both can be obtained in your home country before you depart for Thailand.
