From one of their emails to me (I subscribe yearly for reduced charges). They have several departments operating when specialists visit, as well as their regular GPs and dental clinic: Urology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Radiology, Orthopedics, and Psychotherapy.

A milestone
On August 16th, Be Well Medical Center and its team had the privilege of the 100,000th patient visit since our opening in January 2020. This number excludes patient visits to our dental department.
In view of this milestone, we would like to share with our members some statistical and demographic data about our center’s development since the start:
- Memberships: Our first Be Well member registered at the end of 2019 at our temporary location. Today, we serve approximately 3,500 active members.
- Human resources: In January 2020, during our first month of full operations, we provided care to 350 patients with 3.4 full-time equivalent (FTE) staff members (1.4 doctors and 2 nurses). Currently, we care for about 3,000 patients monthly with a dedicated team of 23 FTE staff (15 medical professionals and 8 supporting staff) across two locations, excluding the visiting specialists.
- Demographic Changes: The average age of our members was 63 years in the first year, which has since decreased to 56 years. This shift is primarily due to the increasing number of younger expatriate families joining our community during and after the COVID-19 period. Nevertheless, our average member age remains higher compared to international standards (e.g., 40 years in Thailand, 42 years in Europe). Our oldest member will turn 105 years this year, and the youngest member was born this week.
- Member Visits: On average, members visit our clinics seven times per year (with males visiting eight times and females six times). These visits account for 70% of our daily patient flow. The split between male and female members is 57%/43%, while the visit split is 65%/35%.
- Nationalities: Be Well members come from 55 different nationalities, up from 31 in 2020. The largest groups are Thai (22%), British (17%), and Swiss (12%). Other nationalities include Dutch (8%), German (7%), American (6%), Australian (5%), French (3%), Swedish (3%), Canadian (2%), and a variety of others making up 15%.
- Walk-In Patients: Over the years, we have welcomed walk-in patients (mainly tourists and “Bangkokians”) from 92 different countries, with the largest group being Thai (30%). Walk-in patients account for 30% of our daily patient flow.
- Patient Flow Patterns: 70% of our daily visitors come in the first half of the day (8 AM – 1 PM), largely due to fasting requirements for certain blood tests and the timing of emergencies. Naturally this concentration poses a challenge for our capacity planning, particularly during the high seasons, and we are actively working on strategies to better distribute patient visits throughout the day. This will be a topic of an upcoming newsletter to our members.
We trust this overview gives you a general picture of our developments, as we look forward to many more years in Hua Hin to come.
