No idea who Big Ange is, but did he replace Wayne Rooney, who did the responsible thing and returned to his club for pre-season?
Some interesting comments from England fans in the build up to the game about the criticism of England -
Thomas Concannon, Football Supporters' Association, speaking to BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "It felt like there was some anger on Tuesday night and a lot of frustration. That’s because we know we can do better with the players that we have got.
"No one condones the chucking of the glasses. That’s just ridiculous. There was a lot of frustration. We can definitely play better. Fans are spending a lot of money and they are entitled to vent their frustrations.
"I think the expectations are high but they are high for a good reason because of the players that we have got."
Smndvdcl: The criticism is tough love, not toxic. English fans want a national team they can be proud of. Even if they fall out of the tournament, fans just want to see a team giving their heart and soul. Impassioned football with goal-mouth opportunities. You get knocked down, you get back up again and try harder. If Southgate et al. can't take the heat, they need to get out of the kitchen.
Lifelong England fan Paul Farrell, landlord of Churchill's Sports Bar in Skegness: "We just don’t expect three bad performances from England like that. You do really (feel let down). We do spend a lot of money to travel all over the world to watch England. It does cost us."
Alcoa bars: England simply have to go out to win, not play usual tactic of not losing. Playing cagey never ends well. Go out, attack and score a few. That's is all that is needed. Win the game and win well.
Personally, I expect another boring, crap game tonight. The Slovakians will be another team to park the bus. IMHO the only good thing about this particular match is the semi-sensible K.O. time. It wouldn't surprise me to see it decided by penalties.

Why continue to blame "Parking the Bus"? The Three Kittens have been shite and not capable of scoring IMHO.... Oh, hang on was it once? Not checked "Scored For/Scored Against", but I doubt England top the list!!
I shall support Ingerland, but Spain vs Germany would be good,....

Why, because it is the reason for the poor performance. That combined with a preliminary round that played a stack of games over 2 weeks to drop 8 teams. All of the decent teams took their foot off the gas - why peak before you need to (not just England)?
I agree, with the players we have, yes we should win easily. The key will be a couple of early goals forcing the Slovaks to try to play football. If we don't get them, then I would not be surprised to see penalties.

Fair play BB - your belief in English Football matches mine in Welsh Rugby!!
I truly do hope you do well - as I'm sure you do for us Welsh supporters

That is it, I honestly don't believe today. Switzerland in the next round, no problem, but a defensive team like Slovakia will be different, and if it goes to penalties, just don't go there
England are encouraging Slovakia to park the bus by constantly passing the ball amongst themselves deep inside their own half. Slovakia naturally have 11 men behind the ball - they can't help it.
This is like a new coach teaching an inexperienced team the basics of football. Keep possession, and if the way in front is blocked, pass it back and start again. What they are forgetting, is this is England. We don't have to play it back all of the time, our players should have the talent to take on the man in front, and beat him.
