it goes without saying a great marketing gig for heineken.
as said, a great event for some, an overcrowded sweat'n'sand mess for others.
lets extend the beach i'd say!
Hua Hin Jazz Festival 2007
It was still a damn good event but it seems to have been scaled back for reasons the organizers were not willing to divulge, the closest to an explanation we got was "Its political, sufficiency economy" and a sheepish smile.
Music reviews and images coming soon, for me the best two acts were Montefiori Cocktail and Prode Tanapat. The rest seemed to be local "pop stars" with limited musical talent there only to entertain the Bangkok masses.

All I've heard is the music was crap apart from one Italian band. The pubs were empty and lost revenue. The hotels and guest houses did a roaring trade. Car parking was a nightmare and bottlenecks of people made walking movement dead slow and stop. No surprises. The beach is a TERRIBLE venue and only appeals to romantic notions. Why not have the music up on the Hill at Lek Fai. It would lend itself to a fantastic setting overlooking the night lights of Hua Hin and sea fishing boats. May be someone should organise an unpretentious Rock event up there?
Too bad they didn't walk down the street and tell His Majesty that, being that he is a great lover of jazz and a jazz musician. Yet another misinterpretation of his speech concerning "sufficiency" economy.buksida wrote:It was still a damn good event but it seems to have been scaled back for reasons the organizers were not willing to divulge, the closest to an explanation we got was "Its political, sufficiency economy" and a sheepish smile.

Good idea Jockey. Hill at Lek Fai would be a great venue. God knows how that amount of people would get up there though.Jockey wrote:All I've heard is the music was crap apart from one Italian band. An unofficial website with photos of the event has been setup here:

I agree with Jockey though they shouldn't just label it and limit it to jazz, why not include jazz, blues, funk, soul and rock and call it a music festival!
