Cold season to arrive in late October

This year's cold season is expected to begin in the fourth week of October and last until late February with temperatures in the Bangkok area likely to drop as low as 15°C, and chillier elsewhere, the Meteorological Department said.

The department said the arrival of the cold weather would be about a week later than usual.

The average minimum temperatures in Upper Thailand would be 20-21°C. The weather would be generally colder than last year, when the average minimum temperature was 21.0°C.

In the South, the weather would be cool (16.0-22.9°C) some days, mostly in the upper part of the region. There would be widespread rain, especially on the east coast, in November and December, with occasional heavy rain in some areas.

Wind waves would be 2-3 metres high in the Gulf of Thailand and 1-2m high in the Andaman Sea.

Also in November and December, there may be tropical storms over the Gulf of Thailand and South Thailand, bringing widespread rain and wind-waves of 3-4m high, the weather office said.

Looks like no end to this incessant rain then for at least a month or two. Rainy season didn't end last year until December.

Ask anyone who was in or near Le Pub around 18.30

and near euro deli later on....

several heavy showers

and plenty of evidence thereto when I returned to Le pub around 23.00

Agreed. At 21:30, no rain, but big puddles.

I can’t believe it’s not affecting Hua Hin as we are only 20 km away, but I had to drain my swimming pool again this morning, so in two days I’ve taken out at least 50mm of water and there’s more heavy rain forecast for later

Yes, of course it is affecting Hua Hin. All that I said was I drove from Ratchaburi after the football, and it was dry all of the way (including Cha-Am) until I got to Hua Hin at 21:30, when we encountered some very big puddles - I doubt they were caused by the tide.

That night, I let the dogs (normally sleep outside) into the house because the weather was so bad. Yesterday was showery all day, and again last night, I got up to let the dogs in because of very heavy rain (what a softie I am :D).

We're on the verge of flooding again down here in the south, literally hasn't stopped raining for a week.

It’s absolutely lashing it down where I live and the garden is more like a paddy field - time to drain more water from the pool.

I was walking along the beach about an hour ago and the sky over Cha Am was so dark it looked like night coming on.
I also had a very waterlogged garden this morning.

For the 3rd time this week I've defied the odds by walking around Khao Tao Lake with no rain. However, the drive in both directions has been quite damp.

I'm happy to give the "rain deniers" a free trip down to Bangsaphan - it literally has not stopped since we got off the plane last month.
