Weather Warning

"Heavy to Very Heavy Rain in Thailand and Strong Wind-Waves in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf"
No. 1 Time Issued : September 3, 2022

During 5-9 September 2022, the active monsoon trough will move down to lie across the lower North, the upper Central and the Northeast. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf will strengthen. More rains are likely in the whole country and isolated heavy to very heavy rains are possible in the North, the Northeast, the Central including Bangkok and its vicinity, the East and the South regions. People should beware of severe conditions that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands.

In addition, the rather strong wind forces the wave up to 2-3 meters high in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf, above 3 meters high in thundershowers while the waves in the lower Andaman Sea are about 2 meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers. Small boats in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf keep ashore during 5-9 September 2022.

I don't know how it is in HH this morning, but I'm thinking not too good. We're under water here in the east with streets flowing like rivers. Driving this morning will be impossible, or very dangerous until this deluge stops and drains off. :(

It's just a mess over here, and Bangkok too by looking at channel 3 news this morning. It's beginning to remind me of 2011. It hasn't stopped here since it started at 0230.

Thap Tai was really bad earlier. I couldn't get out of my car to get to the post office because of the heavy rain and surface water. Had to wait about 25 minutes before a) a car pulled out that allowed me a space with only a metre uncovered and b) the rain eased off slightly. Apart from that, the forecasts are just not that accurate right now.

I was at Black Mountain yesterday afternoon. I saw what looked like a really nasty storm moving West to East very close to me but just South of where I was at. I had maybe 2 dozen BIG spots of rain, but it sounds as if Thap Tai got both barrels.

Tropical storm Noru forecast to hit Thailand on Tuesday

https://www.thaipbsworld.com/tropical-s ... n-tuesday/ (Chart)

Tropical storm Noru, which is located in the Philippine Sea today (Saturday), is expected to hit Vietnam, the Lao PRD and Thailand on Tuesday and Wednesday and bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to northern and north-eastern regions of Thailand, according to the Thai Meteorological Department.

Moreover, it said that the monsoon trough over the southern part of the northern region, the central plains and southern part of the north-eastern region is forecast to intensify during the same period and this will bring a lot of rain to all parts of Thailand, except the south.

Bangkok saw rain throughout last night, with heavy rainfall being reported in the Min Buri, Lat Krabang, Bueng Kum, Sai Mai, Kanna Yao and Saphan Sung areas, resulting in flooding.

The Meteorological Department has advised people in Bangkok to brace for a high tide and heavy rain today, which may hinder efforts to drain water into the Chao Phraya River via a network of canals.

Widespread flooding was reported in several north-eastern, northern and central provinces today.

The National Water Command Centre has forecast that the level of Mun River will remain high until end of this month and river overflows are expected in many areas. In the Warin Chamrap district of Ubon Ratchathani, defence volunteers in boats on the Mun River were advising river-side residents to notify officials 12 hours in advance if they want to be evacuated to temporary shelter.

In the Phimai district of Nakhon Ratchasima, municipal officials and volunteers used sandbags to plug the drainage system, to prevent water from seeping into the Phimai Historical Park and the commercial area of the district.
