If he couldn't produce proof of pension letters, would they let him go upstairs, or is that the bribe to go upstairs without the letters?

British humor about pension letters is completely lost on me. I don't have a pension and don't need letters to renew my visa, and you didn't get my humor, was it completely lost on you, or are you just snobbing around?

We're obviously of different mindsets. I got BB's joke, which actually wasn't about pension letters per se, but I certainly couldn't see a joke in your bribery comment.

I know humour is different on both sides of the pond, so I'll live with it.

Going for renewal of retirement visa next week. Immigration Office in Thayang.
Looking over my list of necessary items. 1. I dont see Medical Certificate. . .yet I remember going into San Paolo recently to get one of these quickie checkup letters.
2. Some concern about the background color of the photo. ..white or blue?
3. Finally . ..any need of covid vaccination certificates? Thanks

No need for medical certificate.
No requirement for vaccination proof.
Size: 2 inches x 2 inches for passport. 60mm by 40mm for visa.
Color: In color. No black and white accepted.
Head size and position: Head should take up 70-80% of photo. Centered and looking forward.
Recency: Taken within the last six months.
Background: Solid white only. No patterns or prints.
Smile: None. Must keep neutral expression with no teeth showing.
Eyes: Open and directed into the camera.
Glasses: Only if not blocking visual of eyes.
Headgear: Acceptable for religious or medical purposes.
Dimensions and size (pixels): 1200 dpi minimum.
Attire, clothing, dress code: No light colored clothing.
Beard: Not specified.
Quantity needed in application: 2.
But I've found Hua Immigration are not that fussy with the pic. Don't know about Thayang but there's usually a local facility to get your pic done.

I got one from Bluport a couple of weeks ago and all I needed was myself, my passport and 1,000 THB.

The officer did the form on the computer from my passport and took a photo and that was that.

I'm not sure if main Imm are so tech savvy. You might well have to fill a form in there and submit a passport photo.

Bluport is much easier. Did my reentry in the main office and they wanted:

Passport, copies of details and visa pages, photos, application form, payment. It took half an hour because a trainee was doing it.
