The answer is yes and many still do use F rather than C (and I’m not swearing!!)

They sure do.
When it's hot in UK people talk in 70's /80's and even 90's
I have a real problem with the sense of "feel" when I hear a temp in Celsius. I can't really relate to it. Give it to me in F and I know exactly what to expect for the day/night. Metric measurements and weights I'm fine with, no way with temp.

I’m the same way, having grown up in the US, and I’m still trying to get accustomed to weights and measures too. I think that will come a lot quicker than the temp. I have tried the hack of doubling the Celsius temp and adding 30, but it doesn’t seem to be entirely accurate. Give me Fahrenheit every time. It seems more precise.
I was very surprised at the really loud thunder earlier. At first I thought someone had turned up the TV as the sun was still shining in a blue sky.
I could see the menacing clouds over HH but nothing materialised.
Looking north from the traffic light end of 112, I could see fork lightening and hear the thunder, then a bit later, we got a reasonable fall of rain for about 40 minutes. Must have started about 17.30.
