Sheraton Hua Hin

Post by PeteM »

I've found some articles on the web suggesting that Sheraton are building a hotel in Hua Hin (just Google for sheraton hua hin). Does anyone know if this is true? If so when is it due to open?

I read somewhere that the Sheraton Hua Hin will be opening in the first quarter of 2006, but I don't know where.

Yes construction of the Sheraton is underway. The site is somewhere between the airport and cha-am.

Thanks everyone. Sounds way out of town. Think I might stick with the Hilton.

Pete, Why the Hilton?????????

There's plenty of far more reasonably priced accomadation places in hh. Check some of the ads (sticky's) on this forum...............

Save some baht for the PARTY

Firstly we want somewhere posh(ish), preferably with its own Spa.

We also need somewhere that allows two kids to share a room with two adults (this rules out virtually everywhere including the Marriott and Anantara).

Being close to town and on the beach would be good.

Finally, my friends are a bit freaked out by the Tsunami and want to stay in a multi storey building. (You don't need to tell me that HH is on the east coast, I've already told them that!). This ruled out the Hua Hin village.

I also took a look at tripadvisor.com. Hilton comes 2nd out of 19 HH hotels. Looks like we're gonna pay £80 per night next easter (from hilton.co.uk).

Thanks, Pete

I could be wrong but I think PM's point was why stay in the Hilton? IMO is a characterless, overpriced towerblock.

This website has plenty of good accommodation alternatives in HH:

I thought I'd given my reasons for choosing the Hilton. However, just in case I've missed anywhere here are our requirements:-

1) Must be 4* or 5*.
2) Ideally close to the town.
3) Must have rooms that can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children.
4) Must have sea views.
5) Cannot be a single story building.
6) Must cost less than $200 per night.

The rooms at the HH are very good with great views. Best position in town. This makes it a winner for me. If cost is not an issue I would run with HH.

IMO The Hilton's worth the extra

Post by troopie »

I agree.
I stayed with my family atg the Hilton last December & will be staying there again in July. The location is great, the service is excellent, the staff are very helpful & so good with my baby son.
Yes, it's pricey but I still think it's worth the extra.

Still undecided! Have read some decent reviews on the Regent Cha-Am. How does this compare to the Hilton? I know it's less luxurious and not in town but at least it's not high-rise and there are some refurbished rooms at the Regent.

Hi PeteM, I have never stayed in the Hilton but about 4 years ago i stayed in the Regent, and i would say that the nicest place to stay there would not fit your requirements, as it was the beach bungalows! The rooms in the multi storey block were Ok but nothing special, and I would imagine the Hilton is much better in that respect, as well as being more central. If you really want posh why not consider the Sofitel? You can get rooms within your quoted price range there, and you can arrange to have a room (or suite) which allows 2 children to stay in the same room as long as they are under 12. You would also be able to insist on a room on the upper floor (it is a two storey building). For good online deals try http://www.precisionreservations.com - I have used them several times booking hotels in Bangkok and they have been excellent.
