I was once in my partners village in Issan when it went down to about 18C and I was drinking iced beer in tee-shirt and shorts whilst the locals were all sat around a fire wrapped in quilts.

The lowest temperature ever recorded in Thailand was a reading of -1.4°C (29°F) in Sakhon Nakhon from 1974 that is from Thailand's climate change report. The next was 0.8°C (33°F) in 1999.
That must have been a WOW moment!
Just 2 years ago in Dec 2019 from the Bangkok Post:
Weather in Bangkok on Thursday was 18C and the coldest province was Nakhon Phanom, where mercury dropped to 8C.

I would've been round that fire with them!

I love cold beer, I absolutely insist upon it, but not when I'm bloody cold, No Siree!!!

According to ThaiMet....

Hua Hin November 2021 rainfall was 146 mm which is 45 % above average(101mm)

However looking at Sept, Oct & Nov wet season combined we should get 464 mm and we got 499 so 8% more than average.

In short, September was rather wet, October was quite dry, and November was wet. So overall it was a moderately wetter than average wet season in Hua Hin.

As we enter December we are now in the driest month of the year with average rainfall in Hua Hin being a staggeringly low 8mm(source: Weather and Climate). To think, that's what we average per day in October!

Cold spell forecast for upper regions

https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/ge ... er-regions

Cooler weather is forecast for the North, Northeast, Central and East with temperatures expected to drop 3-5°C through to Sunday.

The Meteorological Department said on Thursday morning that another strong high-pressure system from China would cover upper Thailand from Dec 3 to Dec 5. The weather would be cool to cold with strong winds.

Temperatures in the Northeast, North, Central and East would fall 3-5°C, and mountain tops in the North and Northeast could expect morning lows of 3-12°C.

The department advised people in upper Thailand to take care of their health, which could be affected by weather changes.

3-5°C is unthinkable to me these days. I'm looking at the digital thermometer now, and it is a very comfortable 28°C. I was actually cold walking around the lake this morning.

On my weather app they’re predicting lows of 19c this weekend in this area, so the cold front will be affecting most of the country not just the north.

When I was talking to my daughter in the UK about how cold it is here with a high of 27 down to 22.

"Do you realise that you're cold in the 70's up into the 80's in Fahrenheit. Here in the UK that's a trip to the beach getting an ice-cream from a Mr. Whippy".

28C is indeed 82.4F. We used to look forward to temps like that back in the day.

This time last year because of Covid restrictions, I was drinking cold beer outside in Europe when it got down to -4C!

Been out on my bike this morning.

Whilst it's cooler weather we're having, it's definitely warmer than it was on Tues morning, and that's for certain!!

Might have just been a wind chill factor on Tues...

My old friend just arrived to Hua Hin 3 days ago from -5C Alberta Canada.
He is still used to room temperature as being warm, 23c.
Hope you all get warmer weather soon though.

Good grief, is it going to rain?!

Pretty sure there's been *zero rain in December thus far

But the sky looks very different tonight and forecast says 50/50....

Rained down here in Amphur Muang and Thap Sakae. Might get some more tomorrow. It was forecast, though did show up a bit early.

Well on the Cha Am side away from Hua Hin, the early clouds gave way to a star filled sky last night, and the forecast for overnight rain looked off the mark, but I’m hoping it may come a bit late - a drop of rain before the end of the year would be more than welcome!!

We’ll my wishes have been met, although so far only in moderation, but it definitely constitutes rain - hopefully a bit more to fall before it vanishes for a few more months.
