Name That Mountain - West of Cha Am

Post by Ratsima »

Can anyone name the prominent mountain that is due west of Cha Am and which is encircled in the attachment by the cycling route I often take around the mountain. I’ve searched many maps but none show a name. Springfield Golf is at the southern tip. There are two nice waterfalls: Hin Lat and Hup Sabu,

I defer to others with better local knowledge about the proper name, but the feature seems to have two different main peaks:

Khao Phayom, with an elevation of 654 m, and the slightly shorter Khao Chong Muang (651 m) located around 1.2 km to the north of Khao Phayom. Both are listed as being approximately 600 meters above the surrounding roads and land.

Here's a simulation of the view from the peak of Khap Chong Muang, looking toward Khao Phayom, courtesy of Peakvisor: https://peakvisor.com/peak/khao-chong-m ... hfov=75.14

. . . and another look at the peaks from the west: https://peakvisor.com/panorama.html?lat ... hfov=39.13

Hoping this is helpful in some way--

Might be Khao Yai (เขาไหญ่) as it is partly in Tambon (sub-district) Khao Yai of Cha-Am and the Tambon may be named after it.

Thank you very much. Peak Visor is a wonderful resource that I hadn’t seen before.

Khao Yai is the name of the big limestone outcrop across from Santorini which has Khao Nang Panthurat Forest Park at the north end. However, Khao Yai would be a good name for the one I’m inquiring about.

Peakvisor has the answer. Nice to see the names of a few hills around Hua Hin as well. Thanks Taf.

Happy to share. Here's a bonus, 3D view from the same website: https://peakvisor.com/3d-map/peak/khao-chong-muang.html
