Closer to 30% now (28.5%) according to the figures from khaosodenglish.com, quoted in the Covid vaccines thread.
Only 3 in 10 then.

OK, I promised to report. I needed to prove vaccination at Mitr Phol Stadium earlier today. Sports Authority of Thailand were checking procedures were being followed correctly, no cutting corners. There was a ministry man on every turnstile

A strange procedure, the box office sold the tickets with no validation. Validation happened after they'd pocketed the money, and you were stood at the turnstiles.

As I queued to get in, I could see everybody in front of me was carrying their Vaccine Certificates. Although I'd made a lot of fuss about getting my certificate, I deliberately left it in the car. I was determined to use Mor Phrom if I could.

You have to remember, I was in Ratchaburi, where Farangs are as rare as rocking horse droppings. Very few English speaking natives. I got to the front and passed them my phone (nobody else in the queue had tried this). Initially, I got a puzzled look then somebody (probably the SAT man) muttered Mor Phrom. Then they thought they had me - eventually somebody worked out how to ask for my ID Card. Their face was a picture when I handed my ID Card over. The ID Card number was checked against number on the Mor Phrom number, and I was in - simples.

Well done!

So, no actual QR code scan, which shouldn't be needed with direct use of Mo Phrom. But a paper certificate could be a forgery.

I wonder how long these checks will go on for. Will tourists be allowed to go to football matches or other events that require this sort of verification?

Yes, I was happy. However, had the ministry man not been overseeing it, Mor Phrom might have been rejected.

Checking the same ID number appeared on both documents was the only security required. Scanning the QR Code is fine if the IT is working, but TIT. Buying my season ticket yesterday took an overbearingly long time yesterday because the system went down, and had to be re-booted. It was worse for those behind me in the queue.

I doubt tourists will be permitted if they can't prove vaccination. The average attendance at Mitr Phol is usually 4 to 5,000. I would think lack of vaccinated supporters reduced the crowd to 4 or 500 last night. If they don't allow their mates in without proof, they aren't going to allow a bunch of strangers. Many regular familiar faces were missing from the crowd last night.

I would guess the stringent checks will continue so long as the ministry men are overseeing it.

I shouldn't, but I am asking myself why you left your VC in the car? Wouldn't it have been easier to have both with you just in case?

It wasn't easy to obtain, so I've laminated it (like a few others I know) to protect it, which makes it rather cumbersome to carry around. Also, if I had it with me, I'm sure they would have ignored Mor Phrom, which I wanted to prove for myself. At the end of the day, my car was only about 2 minutes away in the car park.

Fair enough. Does anyone who has a VC know if it's feasible to copy it and shrink it to credit card size and then laminate it like some of us do with our passports?

The copy shop in MV Basement is offering to do just that. I've already done it with a few Covid docs, but whether accepted or not is another matter. You have to remember the people who will be doing the checking (my fear yesterday). I was lucky the men from the ministry were there yesterday because no way did my checker have a clue what Mor Phrom was.

I'm sure they will soon learn, and then forget to check, just as fast.

I've just noticed that the numpties have spelt my name wrong on the covid cert so it looks like I'll be using the app from now on where its written in Thai. :banghead:

Actually there seems to be a Mor Phrom problem with Date of Birth. In my family, my dob is the only correct one. Family have been able to amend the dob (through Line of all places ), but the dob on the Vaccine Certificate is not updated.

One other problem is my name is written in English on Mor Phrom, whereas it is written in Thai on my ID Card. OK, very few turnstile operators can't read, so it wasn't picked up on Sunday, but Thai Smile refused to let me fly because of the same problem between ID Card and ticket (fortunately, I had my passport in my bag).

Just go to the information desk at HHH and ask for a vaccine certificate. The girl on the desk is very nice/helpful. She should be able to print one out in a minute. Take your vaccination card with you.

Is that the certificate you need to travel to for example Europe or is it more steps involved? :?

I don't believe any of the certificates/vax passports issued in Thailand are recognised/accepted in Europe or indeed almost all of the western nations.
