Semi-retired, I'll have you know, my good man. <sniff>

I offered to go into the salon and wait, just to wind her up. She was trying so hard to say no thanks politely, I couldn't keep a straight face!

Where are you, pharvey? I want to talk about the game!! :banghead:

Did I say 15 minutes per half in an earlier post? Senior moment...

Lions team to face South Africa: Hogg; A Watson, Harris, Henshaw, Van der Merwe; Biggar, Murray; Vunipola, Cowan-Dickie, Furlong, Itoje, AW Jones, Lawes, Curry, Conan.

Replacements: Owens, Sutherland, Sinckler, Beirne, Faletau, Price, Farrell, Daly.

Can't argue with that really. Maybe a bit surprised that Owens isn't starting. Pharvey will be cross that Williams is out altogether, but to balance that he has Faletau on the bench. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away...

Stuff the Olympics, The Second Test is almost upon us!! :thumb:   :sun:

Well, for the Lions - amazed Williams is not in the Matchday 23. He was on for 10 minutes, hardly saw the ball and is dropped... WTF? Best in defence and best under the "high ball" as we have there (in the Back Three) ....

Vunipola brought in - I'm guessing Wyn Jones is still suffering from the shoulder, so correct decision IMO. The Lions going for more in the scrum. Vunipola will struggle to last 60 if playing as he has done so in the loose (coming on as sub), so I suspect he'll tone down the loose and concentrate in the tight - being replaced on the 50-60 minute mark as will his props.

Daly was poor in the first Test in Center, so agree with a change there - Harris I'm good with, better defense. Why not put Simmonds on the bench - he's make a good Center as well as covering 8!! No joke - he's fast enough and has good skills, look at Justin Tipuric.... Class Openside, but could well play Center :thumb:

Murray surprises me at 9, but the Lions have not been good at 9 - agree with Biggar keeping his place at 10 and Farrell on the bench to cover 10/12/13 and kicking duties. The latter a game changer if the Boks can't keep their discipline (and personally I don't think they will - massive game for them, tensions will be running high).

I would have brought in Faletau into the starting XV, but he can play all in the Backrow - not fast enough for a 7 really, but his nous makes up for it. Fresh legs (and lots of experience) into the Backrow in the second half, could be good and makes sense.

The Lions (very) slight favorites for this match, but not by much - expect some "fireworks"!!

Sorry, the "Cyclist" and "Electric Cars" threads are getting the better of me......

I now have this vision of DM varnishing his nails while you are riding a bike round a rugby field. :lach:  :neener:

I'm pretty sure the chances of DM having his nails done and yourself partaking in the "Wacky Backy" are higher than me riding a bike (electric or not) around a rugby field!! :neener:

[EDIT] The thought of you two doing this together is a worry..... But somehow plausible...

Oh I see, that's the way it is, is it? You're the only one who can disappear for 24 hours without so much as a by your leave or a quick word so we won't all think you've done a Stonehouse, are you?? Right!!

No, the truth is I'm still smarting about BB's son... No names, no pack drill, but I KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE!!! :guns:

It all started in January 2013 when he was judging the Caption Competition and I clearly had the best caption, but didn't even finish in the top 5. And the 7's semi was the final straw. Bar steward. (BB, please ask him to give Lucy a hug for me).

Anyway, back to topic...

I think I said my bit about the selection for Saturday. I'd love to see Simmons featuring, at least on the bench, but by and large no awful shocks for me.

As for the video, I overlooked the 'hour' bit, and when I realised how long it was after a couple of minutes, I just couldn't face an hour-long whinge about the officiating by a defeated coach, though I'm sure at some point he tried to make out that wasn't the case. Way out of order IMO, and it will be interesting to see if there's any comeback.

Yes, he probably does make one or two good points, but every coach could do that after every single game there's ever been, and it works both ways. Not to mention the fact that had the mad Hobbit de Faff  been sent off in the previous non-test game, as he might well have been, he wouldn't have been playing in the test(s).

I think it was a bad idea, a bad precedent to set, and I hope he gets sanctioned for it. I also hope Gatland keeps his mouth shut on the topic.
