What happened to those posters from years ago who used to say we were guests in Thailand and shouldn't complain?
You left.

Maybe I'm not seeing everything but it seems like it's not well thought out.
Exactly! They post details hours before the application deadline. Sneaky bastards. So in reality it's a token gesture so that they can honestly say we did offer our citizens this, when in fact the only ones getting it will be diplomatic staff, their families, and likely some other prominent expats.

... and British citizens in Thailand can go swivel.

Edit: Ah, just read back through some posts. Seems UK citizens are also being offered this route on the 18th (today for you guys). I jumped the gun with my criticism. :D

I read that Boris himself is coming to administer them

I notice LA has asked for everyone to wear masks again after a spike in cases. One part of the article, if true, is quite telling.

They're saying not a single vaccinated person has been hospitalised from the virus. I'm going to dig a bit deeper to try verify this claim as it's from a daily mail article. Good news if true. Let the antivaxxers crack on.

(don't we have a resident antimask/antivaxxer on the forum somewhere. Sure I remember there being one :D )

There is a new opportunity for farangs older than 75:

https://thethaiger.com/hot-news/expats/ ... ue-bangkok

But it does not say which vaccine and with this walk-in service you never know if you can get it really the day you go to Bangkok.

For the reasons you have stated, it sounds to be quite a risk to travel there from the HH area, only to find you couldn’t get vaccinated - I’m not old enough to qualify, but even if I were, I wouldn’t take the chance.

You're much safer staying here than going to Bangkok. I figure, since I haven't been infected here, I'd rather not be exposed to the Bangkokians.

Full text.

The Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Tanee Sangrat, has provided the following advice for foreigners aged 75 and over who have not yet received any COVID-19 vaccines:

1. Starting 19 July 2021, all foreigners aged 75 and over, who are residing in Thailand and have yet to receive any COVID-19 vaccines, may register for vaccination by walk-in process at the Central Vaccination Center - Bangsue Grand Station every day, between 09:00 and 16:00 hr. Those receiving vaccines must present their passports, as well as proof of residence, e.g. visa, permanent residence card, or work permit on the day of vaccination.

2. Walk-in vaccination is available every day at Gates 2, 3, and 4. Note that Bangsue Grand Station is also being used to vaccinate the general public. COVID-19 preventive measures should, therefore, be strictly observed while traveling to and at the vaccination site.

There is a daily capacity limit for walk-in vaccinations. However, vaccinations will be administered continuously throughout the day, therefore, those receiving vaccines can arrive at the site within opening hours as per their convenience.

3. This arrangement is reserved only for foreigners who have not yet received any shots of vaccines. Those who have already been inoculated with their first shots of vaccines must follow up with their second dose at the vaccination site where they originally received their first dose. The system can detect and will reject those who have already received first doses. There is also currently no vaccine scheme for any booster or third shots available for the general public.

My wife, being more paranoid than I, when we go out shopping, now insists that we wear 2 masks. If you think it was difficult breathing with one mask, try 2. The one advantages is I can't smell other humans.

I actually prefer to wear a face covering now. Being somewhat of a social anxiety sufferer, I like hiding behind a mask or snood when I'm out and about. :D

I still find it amusing walking into my bank like this though...

Sorry, not vaccine related. I'm straying off topics quite a bit this morning. My bad. :duck:

A not very complimentary report regarding vaccines in Asia, particularly Thailand.

I've just read that only 19 turned up for the jab this morning.I wonder if that is a reflection on the Sinovac 1st, then AZ situation, or the fact it was Bangkok.
